My wife and I have just about had it with XP. A year ago she purchased an HP digital camera. At the time she had Win98 SE on her computer. That machine has gone to computer heaven and she has a new one with XP which, naturally, will not recognize the camera. Thus she cannot download her pics. The camera will work with 2000. We checked Hewlett Packard and discovered that the xp driver cannot be downloaded; it must be purchased on CD. Something seems very wrong with this picture. The camera was made AFTER XP came along. I have a very angry wife.
The camera is an HP Photosmart 215. We found it at WalMart. After moving to XP, the camera software will not allow downloading of the pictures. In fact, it won't recognize the camera. We learned that the camera's drivers aren't compatible with XP. We checked the HP site and discovered that the only way to get the drivers is to purchase a CD. They are not available for download. After finding that, we found an HP forum and quite a few people are having the same problem. The reason given by an HP rep is that there is a copyright issue on the drivers and purchasing them is the only option. As far as we're concerned, this is the last HP anything that we buy, and from the tone of that forum, we aren't the only people with that opinion.
Thanx, Metallica. I downloaded it onto hmy wife's computer and am waiting for her to give it a try. If it works, she's back in business. That still doesn't change our opinion of HP, though. No more of their stuff in this house.
Very bad HP-joke, and very bad HP-explanation too about the copyright issue. Let stick HP the camera in their f*ck*ng ***!!! I'm glad Metallica have helped you already, otherwise I was able to do.
