    Hi,

What is the difference between XnView Classic and XnView MP ?

Can both be used on older Windows systems to view .HEIC files (or maybe convert them to .jpg or something like that)?
Is there some kind of plug-in needed?

    TIA

The XnView Classic page says "XnView is compatible with Windows 7 and Windows 10."
The XnView MP download section says "Windows 7/8/10/11".
The XnView MP page says "All common picture and graphics formats are supported" among which is HEIC.

Regarding differences between XnView Classic and XnView MP, there are these two threads, but I have no idea which info is still up-to-date or not:
What's different in XnView MP [Full List]
Missing features (compared to XnView Classic) (10 pages)

I hope JRViejo or others can tell you more.

Jan, as I understand it, the Classic version, being the oldest, is for Windows only, while the MP (Multi Platform) version is for Windows, MacOS, and Linux.

Thank you both Stupendous Man and JR :thumb:

I am going to look at the links you both posted.

I got pictures in HEIC format (about serious things on the cemetry) and I need to look at them.
If I cannot convert them to jpg but only see them, then I will make screenshots with SnagIt; that is no problem.

Thank you both very, very much !!!

OK, installed XnView MP version 1.8.6.0 on Win7.
It works. I can now view HEIC files. And it lets me save the files in jpg format. Great!!!
I have to learn a lot more about this program, settings etc. etc.!
But at least I could now view important HEIC pics, and that was for now the most important thing.
And now I could sleep for days ...

I'm glad XnView MP lets you view HEIC files and save in JPG format.
I supposed this would be possible, but I couldn't find that information in the documentation, as it is rather fragmented and partly outdated. So, trying was the best way to find out, and you did.

I guess a lot of information can be found in the XnView MP documentation, but exploring the XnView MP menus and options is another way to get to learn about the application.
