What are some other good bookmark/password syncing software? I tried the Firefox one but the captcha does not show up at all so I can't finish setting up the profile.

As far as I know, there's nothing else out there that does what Xmarks does. Lastpass and Xmarks were the only two "required" addons that I installed when setting up a fresh system or a reinstall of the browser.

Gonna be a pain managing each browser's bookmarks...

Cheater, you probably have NoScript installed....temporarily disable it while installing Firefox Sync and you should be able to finish the installation. It worked for me.

Thanks disabling noscript and requestpolicy did the trick after words I re enabled them. Got an account made have Firefoxsync disabled and will enable it once Xmarks goes down.

What stinks is that Firefoxsync still isnt a replacement for XMarks and as such I uninstalled that as well.

What do you mean FF Sync isn't a replacement for Xmarks? FF Sync supports bookmarks, passwords, preferences, tabs, and history, which pretty much covers it. The one additional feature of Xmarks is sync across browsers, which is nice but less important to me than the other stuff. IE can be synced through Windows Live Sync.

I remember that I turned away from Xmarks, because it was not optimized tor Firefox SQLite places database. But it seems that they made improvements in this area.
What I like about Xmarks most is that I can bookmark a page in IE/Chrome/Firefox and find it right away on my iPod over Wifi:

This is sad. I haven't found a single alternative for it that provides all the functionality but will try the options.

You answered you own question ;)

The cross browser sync is/was the main reason for the majority of users to adopt it. May not be important to you, but it's a major game changer for others, including me.

So what does this mean for Xmarks? Will it still remain free or do you have to get Lastpass as well?
