If you were trying to sneak in a quick game on Xbox Live during your Friday afternoon lunch break and found that you can’t get online: don’t worry, you’re not alone.

While Microsoft’s Xbox Live Status page still says all things are good to go (Update: Microsoft’s status page has now caught up with the outage, and says that it’s impacting sign-ins, account creations, and searches), reports are pouring in of an outage keeping many users from logging in.
Microsoft acknowledged the problem on Twitter, saying that they’re “looking into it now”

The Verge: Xbox Live is down again, the second time this week

This is the second time in just a few days.

When Xbox Live went down two days ago, it took the team some time to get everything back up. Prior to that, Xbox Live’s service was down for a couple of hours in January, which also caused black screens for many people.

A month after another extended outage impeded Xbox gamers from playing for hours -- and with a number of smaller issues in between -- Microsoft's network is down once again. Right now, many people can't sign in or do much other than maybe watch Netflix on their Xbox Ones, after hours of problems and more than an hour and a half after its support account said the team was aware of problems.

One thing's for sure -- a string of service outages isn't the best way to convince people that cloud-streamed gaming is a good bet for the future.

Microsoft's Xbox Live service is currently undergoing some trouble, as users are having trouble launching games they own, the support team acknowledged on Twitter. The Xbox Live Service Status page also lists issues with finding and downloading previously-purchased content, and the engineering team is working to fix the issue as soon as possible.

According to Windows Central, users trying to launch games are facing an error message saying they need to sign in with the same account that purchased the title. A solution for this, in games that don't require online connectivity, is to take the console offline in the meantime, which allows games to be launched without signing in.
Xbox Live is prone to issues like these, and users on Twitter have been quick to point out how often these problems occur.

Xbox Live is down due to a number of technical disruptions. Microsoft’s online gaming service isn’t working for everybody, and the company has told players it is working to bring it back online.

The Xbox Live outage is primarily keeping people from signing into the service across Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Windows. In turn, that is preventing players from booting up digital games or games that require a connection to the internet.
Microsoft confirmed the issues at 3:18 p.m. Pacific time, and then it updated its support site with the following message at 3:51 p.m.:

“We believe we have identified the issue causing some members to have problems signing in to Xbox Live. Thanks for your patience as the team works to resolve the issue.”
But as more people turn to online games, it could put strain on server capacity.

Xbox Live and Support.xbox.com Experiencing an Outage

Microsoft is currently experiencing an outage where some users are unable to login to Xbox Live, have issues with matchmaking, and are unable to access support.xbox.com.

At approximately 5:00 PM EST, users started reporting that they were unable to login to Xbox Live, access their saved games, or have issues with matchmaking. Since then, users have also been having issues opening support.xbox.com.
Microsoft has confirmed these issues in the Xbox Support Twitter account as can be seen below.

At approximately 7:30 PM EST, service was restored for both Xbox Live and support.xbox.com
