I do not know, but there are my thoughts. It appears that there will be some kind of registration, as there is the text at the bottom right of the window which says "Has been registered to : WiseCleaner." Most of their other products have both free and paid versions, so that is a possibility.

The program on which this is based, Driver Genius, is only available for free. So, if there are going to product both free and paid versions, I don't know what limitations the free version would have.

Nuh, they were just old drivers, all 4 AMD related, each ~860MB. I have removed them with RAPR and Wise shows only a few MBs left now.

again - it has reason that windows store such files.

Of course, so you can rollback in case of problems, but since you can just download and install them anytime, it is not really an issue.

Yep, pretty neat. I ran it on all 5 machines and it showed me things I wasn't even aware of.
Problem is it might be a little too expensive for me.
    We shall see.

    Thanks

But since this product is still in beta, it is not listed there.

    Once again nice find Roger.

This should come in handy for my next pending clean install. How does this program compare to io bits driver booster free?

    Regards Eck:)

In my opinion, this is much better than Driver Booster. It has a much bigger database of drivers, which means it does a very good job of finding drivers for devices which Windows Update and other driver software can't find drivers for, e.g. if you do clean install of Windows and even after running Windows Update there are devices with missing drivers. With both programs, it is very rare for them to install an incompatible driver, which doesn't work.

I like Driver Booster too, but it doesn't find as many drivers. I do not know if I can always believe the figures stated, but Driver Booster is claimed to have a database of 400,000+ drivers and Wise Driver Care, 600,000+.

Yup, I reckon the figures from both maybe slightly exaggerated but still good to have them at hand when Windows Update needs a bit of help.

    Thanks for the info:thumb:

A new beta version has been released, v1.0.619.1001. There's no changelog as of yet, but I can see a spelling mistake I reported has been fixed.

What's the catch with the free version. Yeah, I've seen their comparison chart but does it show ads? I assume you would get regular prompts to upgrade too?

If you don't add new hardware just running once would probably suffice to show any available drivers, unless you start having issues, right?

Does it start with Windows by default? Does it have background processes or services running all the time?

    Thanks.

Programs like these scare me, I don't trust them. I don't update my drivers unless something is broken.

I too don't update my drivers if I don't need. Especially graphic card drivers.

There are no ads and I believe there are no prompts to upgrade. With the free version, the download speed is slower and you have to update drivers individually, rather than being able to update them all together. But, like the paid version, most updates are done automatically, rather than just launching the driver's installer. I use the Pro version, which you can often get for free as a giveaway.

By default it will prompt you when there are driver updates available, but you can easily disable this in the settings. I've been using the original Chinese language version of it, Driver Genius (which has nothing in common with the English language product of the same name) for years.

In my opinion, this is currently the best driver update software there is.

Hmm. Norton doesn't mind the download but Windows Defender blocked it.

I keep an eye on every giveaway site. It seems there are no giveaways for it at the moment, but if regularly you do a Google search for "wise driver care" giveaway, and set the search range to the past week, you will see when another giveaway comes up.
