    Hi.

    When I use the WinXP Search function (in order to search for files), it gets stuck (= takes hours) since it also searches inside .tib files, which is not desired.

    How can I stop the Search function from doing so?

    Thanks,

    If you disable the shell extension other features may be lost that you might like using from within an explorer window. Shame since that search function is rarely useful and so often an absolute killer to running a search. If Windows wasn't such -- well, anyway, it should be part of the search functionthat you can excluded certain file masks. I see this much more as a Windows than an ATI weakness

    Agreed!

    However I found the solution. No clue if this is officially (by Acronis) approved, but it works!

    Switch it on (default):
    Code:
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{C539A15B-3AF9-4c92-B771-50CB78F5C751}]
    @="Acronis True Image Shell Extension"
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{C539A15B-3AF9-4c92-B771-50CB78F5C751}\ShellFolder*]
    "Attributes"=dword:a0000000
    Switch it off:
    Code:
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{C539A15B-3AF9-4c92-B771-50CB78F5C751}]
    @="Acronis True Image Shell Extension"
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{C539A15B-3AF9-4c92-B771-50CB78F5C751}\ShellFolder*]
    "Attributes"=dword:000001a0
    Bye,

    That's another way to disable shell extension for tib files. I think it disables the ability to browse tib files from within explorer also.

    Someone correct me if I am worng here but I believe the shell extension features come are all or nothing. The extension managers merely alter the registry settings for the various shell extensions of diff types of files. For tib files, if you want to do anything with them in Explorer then you have to suffer the terribly, monotonously, boringly, tediously long searches.

    It's just a question of choice, with choices limited.
