Is anyone having problems with this update (V35.5.2017.8 (May 7, 2017)? HitmanPro found a trojan in the download and shut down my pc when I tried to update today. Now I can't get thru to the WP site.....is there a problem?

I also encountered an issue when downloading it. EAM quarantined it.

I subsequently did a VT check of wpsetup.exe and it was flagged by 13 / 61, so I am not installing for now to be on the safe side.

I had EIS flag it as a Trojan and quarantine it and at the same moment GlassWire logged a connection attempt to ocsp.comodoca.com which suggest a dodgy Comodo certificate might have something to do with it.

From Bret Lowry at WinPatrol support:

False positives. We’re trying to report it to BitDefender (Since most all of those engines actually use BitDef under the covers) but regrettably their False Positive reporting site is down.

    and

Please help us by reporting this false positive to your AV vendor.

In my case, the WP website does not work (Firefox).

I can access the site with Chrome but when I try to download I get a timeout.

    Edit: finally got the file.
Did a scan with MBAM and it found nothing.

I reached out to Bret and he confirmed it is indeed a case of a false/positives. It is the same ongoing issue that Bill Pytlovany had because of using the InstallMate installer.

The problems with reaching the website are due to the Internet Backbone company Level3 which has widespread outages.

I provided additional information in my blog post, False/Positives of WinPatrol wpsetup.exe and Access to Website

This morning EAM offered to restore wpsetup.exe from quarantine so it has now been flagged as an FP there.

If ever a program was in need of a complete UI overhaul, this is it.

Well, maybe, but since I open it very seldomly, I don't care much.
It's just to configure it, not something you interect with a few hours a day.
And I don't need to configure it anymore these days.

Funny cause none of my installed programs have needed to be changed to be compatible with Windows 10.

But then that could be due to the fact my version of Windows 10 doesn't receive new features.
