Yes, here the weather is hot, about 35°C, it could be indeed.

The worst, is that starting with a boot CD and my laptop shut down drastically.

PS: My laptop batteries are taken out. Something that can influence my HDD is my Power Ac Adaptor: when I plug into the socket, I have little sparks from the inside of the socket. It occurs often.

I will try to find one on the net.

With the pencil clean the contact of Ram stick and graphics cards. I'm not sure to find the last one on my laptop...

If you have two RAM cards, make sure the speeds are the same. PC2700 (333 MHz) for example. Can cause errors if they're not.

If you are suspecting ram, put one module it at a time, run something like memtest86. If no error, swap modules assuming you have more than one. If memtest86 or equivilent gives no errors, move on to something else.

Do I need to rub with the eraser on the memory contacts ?

How do you clean off any loose piece of eraser left behind ?

I've just come across with this info, I suppose they're completely wrong

I don't suspect Ram but I could try it with my old Memtest86 version to see if something is wrong, thanks Sul

I couldn't do the test memory as my laptop shut down unexpectedly four times.

    Every times, after 3-4 minutes.
