I downloaded and installed New Version of EasyCleaner on my system with Windows XP. My system didn't like it very much at all and this was peculiar because I hadn't used any options in the program nor had I did anything with settings, etc. I was going to wait until I got on my computer today to mess with the program and check it out. PROBLEM: Extreme slowdown of system to a snail's pace or, maybe, slower! It took a very significant time for my desktop to load all the way and then, when it did, I didn't have all the icons showing in the tray as usual. I decided to go to add/remove programs and remove EasyCleaner, but it wouldn't let me saying something like, 'file in use, can not remove'. I went to Start/Programs and looked for an option to uninstall and there wasn't. So I opened EasyCleaner and saw that there was an option to add/remove programs and I picked EasyCleaner and clkd the button to remove. It wouldn't so I chose the remove whatever from the registry and then the program vanished from the list. I thought this didn't go as it appeared. I closed the EasyCleaner window and wen to control panel....add/remove programs and EasyCleaner didn't show there either. I 2clkd the icon that remained on the desktop and it couldn't find the .exe file to fire up EasyCleaner. I deleted the icon, but wasn't satisfied yet so went to Windows Explorer and looked for EasyCleaner in the programs and all kinds of files still showed. I rt clkd the EC folder and chose delete and was told that it couldn't because something was still in use. I went to the bottom of the EC folder subs and manually deleted all files from the bottom up. When finished, I went back to control panel and checked and EC wasn't there. I went to Start/Programs and EC wasn't there either. I was finally able to get it off my system and my computer is back up to a rabbit's pace. I guess bottom line is that one must be cautious if a major slowdown of computer occurs shortly after installing EC on their system.

    Hi Pretender:

Phew! Thank you. I always take this sort of warning very seriously. EasyCleaner is a program I was tempted to try and did in fact suggest to a friend recently as what looked like a good free registry cleaner. Guess I'd better direct him to your post.

The two cleaners I'm most familiar with are Registry Medic and RegSupreme. Of the two, RegSupreme is the one I'd recommend to anyone looking for a good cleaner. It isn't free, though it's remarkably cheap, and it has a much more intelligent restore setup than RegMedic. It also gives you a choice of Medium or Deep or Very Deep search, although like all of these cleaners it does miss some things.

    Regards,

    tepi.

I used an older version of EasyCleaner with no problem. I was running Windows ME at the time. A person on another forum (who's opinions I really respect) tells me that they are using the new version of EasyCleaner on XP and haven't experienced the drag down that I had on my system. The following is a response to that poster:

Wonder if it had a major conflict with another program I'm running? You think one of the programs in my Signature (on my post) might have a prob with EC?

Wanted to add that NOD32 V2 is resident and AVG is not used except for manual scan backup.

I downloaded and installed again and am not experiencing any problems that are apparent. Go figure...

There has been every kinds of problems with the installation, thanks to the
Installshield corporation. I recommend the use of the ZIPped version until
    I get it sorted. Thanks.

After reading the above posts, I decided to download this new version to give it a try on my ME system.

I had tried the previous version about 2 years ago but it wrecked my help files, and so I got rid of it very quickly thinking I would never use this product again.

Anyway... I gotta say it... this version 2 works very nice indeed. Much better interface that is very neat to use and the registry scan seems pretty good.

I also like the various file cleaners and the one click ones are handy.

Has anyone else used this and found any problems with it. I use RegSeeker at the moment but I have to admit it... this new version of EasyCleaner looks quite useful.
