Windows update the size of a large dog

    Maybe you have System Restore enabled?
    In my case updates are downloaded fast but extra time takes "snapshot" made by built-in System Restore.

    Its a good idea to leave it enabled. In the event something goes wrong with your update, you can still revert to the point you were at before the update was installed on your PC.

    Why are you incorrectly qouting, editting the qoute, when I was quoting from Microsoft directly ?

    Apart from every month for the past 6 months and probably more...

    ok folks, once or twice a month.
    who cares?

    as long as those updates fix stuff and don't break them.

    unfortunately, the last 2-3 Patch Tuesdays have very much broken things, afaic.
    if it takes 1 or 2 hours for Windows to clean its updates then i consider the thing pretty much broken...

    My bet goes to a problematic update for the Microsoft .NET Framework 2-3-4-X version.
