Windows is a Chaotic System! Hi Everyone- I wanted to post this picture of a chaotic system, a fractal. It is sort of a play on pictures and words. I have always liked fractals, though I don't have any idea how to create them. As I was looking around I encountered a site owned by Elena Novaretti, a very interesting woman who lives in Italy. She has created many very unique fractal graphics. While I am not an expert in the subject, these are in a class by themselves. There is something very eerie about these graphics. It's like you are looking at another universe or something. anyway, thought some of you might enjoy the joke, the graphics, or both! This is a link ( http://www.elena-fractals.it/ ) to Elena's site where you can see what I mean, if you like. most of the pictures slightly smaller than my screen width (1280 pixels). I wish they were bigger, but even as they are they are pretty fascinating. Especially if you do a lot of work with chaotic systems, like I do! -HandsOff!
I agree . This does not appear to be chaotic at all. In fact the more you look at it - the more it grows on you . But maybe in depicting the extreme chaos of Windows , the picture is trying to show the system behind the chaos. The site of the author is a riot of colours and shapes and definitely gives credence to the author's claim of being more of an artist than a mathematician Thx HandsOff for linking to a extremely interesting site.
For those of you who did not know, Amiga still has a strong following. It is my understanding that most of her pioneering work was done on a souped up amiga. They are still out there, pumping out graphics... -HandsOff
Well, I collect GOOD fractals, I luv 'em! They are like a universe unto themselves. Here's a sample of the kind I like. It's called MoulinRouge...I sometimes use fractals as background for pics! When I get a more powerful puter, I would like to try to make my own.......thanks for bringing them to our attention, Hands! Marja
Here is another, a little more delicate and airy, it's called "DataTransfer". Quite elegant for it title, don't you think?
I guess it wouldn't hurt to post another one...This one has a less technological name - Horsey. -HandsOff BTW- I am interested in seeing programs that generate fractals, though I am beginning to think I'll never find a good one.
This one is called, The Four Domains. Somehow I don't recall graphing anything like this in my math classes. -HandsOff
