Windows 8 will likely cost less than Windows 7

    Yes, not that many of your average punters will probably know about VLC. The more I hear about Win 8, the more I think about never buying it. I am also sceptical that this policy will actually affect the retail price.

    If they reduce the price by removing something I never bothered using, that's fine by me. *continues to use MPC-HC happily*

    It does shine some light on the whole licensing system though, they must be paying a whopper for DVD support to consider removing it.

    Finally, at least one good news about Windows 8, you just made my day, I am actually forward to Windows 8 release now. Thanks for the info.

    UK prices are rising from MS. Volume licensing just gone up, heard rumours MSDN/Technet going up. Launch price for Win 8 vs Win 7 will be more if retail pricing goes up by similar amounts, including inflation.

    The price would need to be less than $149.99 for a family pack (3 user) for home premium as that is what MS offered originally, even though a promo.
