Quite possibly... but until then, I think they could have done a better job with the transition... namely, by giving people the option of how they want things in the current OS, until such time that touch is overwhelmingly predominant.

I agree. My fingers are still crossed for a hover-over taskbar when dragging your mouse to the bottom of a Metro app! Maybe one of the future "service patches".

Make up nonsense? While you're right that the mouse wasn't welcomed with wide open arms at first, the difference between a mouse and touch screens..on a PC is night and day. Yes, I'm aware that the option to not use Metro on a desktop is there and it isn't even suitable for a desktop. But again, the introduction of the mouse can hardly be compared to the introduction of touch interfaces to desktop screens that were never designed to be touched. It has nothing to do with being blind or afraid and everything to do with efficiency and 20 years of use.

I agree with you that eventually touch will be everywhere, in fact it mostly is outside of desktops that still have necessary functions. However, MS is going about it the wrong way, in my opinion. They're messing with an area they don't really need to in order to get in on the action that they've failed in and been left out of. Introducing Surface alone and making it a product that can truly compete with Apple and others is all they really need to do. As I said in a previous post, this seems more out of desperation to get in that market. MS is behind.. woefully.. behind in mobile and they're desperate to change that. No Windows 8 or MS hatred here, just an observation and opinion from a user.

Well, I have just bought and installed Windows 8 Pro digital version from Microsoft Store for 30€ and it is a steal. It downloaded in about 6 minutes, than it offers setup from HDD, creating ISO and creating USB setup. Installation took about 20 minutes and it works just fine. Aside from metro, it is a fine specimen. I think, that I will keep it. :)

You bought the Windows 8 upgrade and it allows you to create an ISO to perform a clean install?

Yes, I was surprised myself and I even bought it while using Windows 8 and setting Upgrade advisor to Windows 7 Compatibility mode.

Thanks for the info... No, I don't doubt anything, just wondered how they do it. :)
