    Hi guys,

I've written a tutorial explaining how to customize and personalize Windows 8, including Metro tweaks, Windows features, download notifications in Internet Explorer 10, hidden files, new task manager, application history, gadgets, disabling the tile interface, and more. Enjoy.

    Cheers,

Isn't NTFS an kinda archaic file system?
From my little knowledge, NTFS tends to fragment easily and is not really that awesome why don't they adopt a new file system or at least improve NTFS?

    NTFS was improved for Vista.

    edit: Probably 7 as well.

Still, it's a shame. I'd really like for more finely tuned permissions.

NTFS has been improved with every OS released since it was released, including Windows 8. You just don't notice it because they don't append the name with a version number.

I think the biggest changes have been file permission changes though, no changes in how metadata is stored or performance improvements.

You must be thinking about FAT32. :D I rarely have to defrag any of my drives.

Spaces is easily the single most important feature in Windows 8. I don't care for Metro, but this could revolutionize storage.

    Re: Windows 8 Update

So far running very well in the VMWare 8. However, does anyone get shut down issues as seen in the ss below?

Nope, once every 10 or so shutdowns I get an error though that requires me to click 'OK'. :)

In other news, the new file system 'ReFS' will be coming to all versions of Windows 8 (Server/Client).

Okay thanks! I tried it moments ago and it shut down fine, so it isn't all the time. Anyway, for a pre-beta, it's looking impressive :)

Once in a while it freezes at startup. That's it though.

No startup freezes for me yet.

I notice AppLocker in Win8 enforces .FPI (Foxit Reader) and .FMT (Winzip) file types, under DLL enforcement, as well as .appx (application packages).

So basically if you use a tablet or something running ARM you're locked into Windows... but if you use the vast majority of computers it's fine.
