    Hello there.

For a Windows 8 x64 system I have a differential backup of the entire hard drive saved into a network drive.

The system had a problem do I used the rescue media to restore from backup.
Operation completed successfully but Windows is unable to start, I have a blue screen asking to restore system.

    What's wrong?

Do I have to restore the base image and then the differential?

    Thanks and best regards

Generally when you perform the restore, from the recovery media you will have to first choose the differential which may then prompt you to choose the base image. Please give in more detail the issues you are running into, and how you performed the backup as well as the restore process, also please clarify which recovery media you using.
