This happened to me a few weeks ago after the MS Tues Updates and a Chrome Update around the same time. IE9 is useless to me now. All i get is a blank screen. After a few minutes it will start to paint the screen with the URL. Good thing i always use Chrome anyway..

No issues whatsoever with this update. Everything runs as it should. :)

    Re: should i uninstall KB2762895?

mantra, the update has to do with issues installing or running legacy (software developed years ago) games or applications. If you have installed the update and you are not experiencing any problems, there is no need to uninstall.

On the other hand, if the update is giving you problems, you can always restore to an earlier point, before the update's installation. Your decision.

Has anyone had any issues with installing this update on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard by chance?

    Thanks.

after kb2762895 is installed and the computer rebooted it causes it to hang before the welcome screen (black screen with moveable mouse pointer) ... this happens also in safe mode, the only way to get the computer booted is to use the windows disk go to repair (it finds no start up problems) use system restore to before the update was installed and all is fine until you restart and it insists on installing the update again and it becomes a visious circle. it doesnt seem a good idea to turn updates off any ideas ?? thanks alan

    KB2762895 blacked out my desktop
Auto-installed KB2762895 the other night. Since then on startup I enter my password, the little welcome thing spins for a bit, then the screen fades to black showing only the cursor. No desktop, no icons, no launch tray. (the mouse works, but nothing to point at.) Restoring to a pre-update point works, but next time I shut down, the update runs and it's the same thing all over again. (I've disabled auto-updates for now).

Running an HP laptop 64 bit

Yeah. Just uninstalled it from the updates and rebooted. I then hide the update rather than turning off updates so I dont get it again.

I probably should have looked it up first before installing, sincei t was a recommended update and not important, but everything seems ok after installing it on Tuesday. :)

Good to hear! :) According to what I've read so far some had major problems. Makes one wary just to do a Msft update eh?
