    I made a backup of a Windows 2003 server with dynamic disks.

    When I try and restore the backup, the server complains that it cannot start the Active Directory.

    I think that Windows has been restored to a basic disk, not a dynamic one.

    Is there an easy way to solve this problem?

    Hello btr2,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Server Disk Backup Software.

    Could you please tell us what exact error message you have received?

    Please create Acronis Report in the way described below:

    - Download and run Acronis Report Utility;
    - Select the "Create Bootable Floppy" option;
    - Insert a blank floppy disk in the A: drive and proceed with creation of the bootable floppy;
    - Boot the computer from this diskette and wait for report creation process to finish;
    - Collect the report file from the floppy.

    Please submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Could you please clarify how you have restored your image? Please describe your actions step-by-step.

    Thank you.

    I used True Image 9.1 server for windows to create a full back up of the C: drive.

    I then formated the C: drive using Disk Director Suite.

    I then used the True Image Boot CD to launch the full version of True Image and selected to restore a complete drive. I restored the full backup of the C: created earlier.

    Windows 2003 then appears to start up correctly, but when the log in prompt appears (where it says press ctrl+alt+del) the following message appears:

    "Security accounts manager initialization failed because:
    Directory service cannot start. Error status 0xc00002e1
    Click OK to shutdown and reboot to Directory services Restore mode."

    But when I reboot to restore mode my administrator password is not accepted.
