Nobody wants this. It would be nice if they would spend the time elsewhere, such as fixing stuff that doesn't work.

Creating new features that require later fixes is job security. :shifty:

Apparently Microsoft wants to turn Windows into a social media platform :thumbd:

Ok in reference to a previous post I made:
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...art-menu-and-more.438389/page-63#post-3087255

It looks like the broken Windows Security functions persist through today's 22H2 cumulative update assuming you had the issue to begin with. After some digging I found reports that the issue that causes this is a "left behind" folder with an outdated version of the Windows Security app. There were claims that deleting the folder would fix it. Doing so seems to work for me. For anyone that wants to proceed at their own risk if they are having this problem, it appears this folder and its contents are to blame:
    C:\Windows\System32\SecurityHealth\1.0.2109.27002-0

As it is owned by System deleting it was not fun. I had to log into Safe Mode, change the ownership to the Users group (strangely changing it to Administrators or my own named user did not work) and then I had to delete it from the command line by running the following command:
    rmdir C:\Windows\System32\SecurityHealth\1.0.2109.27002-0 /s
Someone else may find a better way but several other things I tried did not work and this did.

FYI this is all on the Release Preview channel.

Next time, for such issues you can always run explorer.exe / regedit (if you want to delete protected reg entries) using ExecTI (https://winaero.com/execti/) It runs whatever app, in this case, explorer as a trusted installer with full privileges

PsExec probably would have worked as well I assume. Ah, afterthoughts...

For anyone that may have been deterred from updating to 22H2 by my previous posts, at this point with the current updates it seems to be fine now. At least for me. :D

I did update again after the release of the cumulative update. I still got that message but I had found a claimed fix which was a large part of deciding to try again. See this post for the resolution if you encounter it.

OK. Thanks for the info. I was in Win 11 for awhile but went back to 10. I got the message also about updating to 22H2 "standard hardware security not supported" which would be my processor. Anyway, for now I will stick with Win. 10 as everything works well.

Fortunately it can be removed from the Taskbar in Taskbar settings.
