    Yep. Times have already changed--maybe it's better to at least pretend to be "current." Or not, up to oneself.

    At any rate, when I updated the NVIDIA graphics driver to v. 461.92, startup got slowed a little, so I clean-booted the little drag away. Happens sometimes with a new Windows build and latest NVIDIA, it seems.

    Are you testing this build by chance?

    I am. I test all of them to make sure there are no issues with the software we produce.

    I just logged into my Insider account to check this out. You are right, the icons kind of remind me of Linux in a way.

    Still running behind, but not blind. Just ran Windows Updates for the first time in a couple of months, and now at Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.1379)

    I see that in build 21343 (Dev channel) that as well as new icons that there is more vertical spacing between files in list and details view(s) in the File Explorer. I don't like the gap It causes less files to be viable at a time.

    These are the default values from the previous build, you can easily change them via this reg edit then log out/log back in

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics]
    "IconSpacing"="-1850"
    "IconVerticalSpacing"="-1128"

    Thanks. After doing some searching I see there is also a "Use compact mode" in the View Setting of Folder Options. If they make this a change for release builds I hope they keep the option to turn it off.

    Correct, luckily both Win 8 and Win 10 almost never crash.
