They did. That is provided by a third party. I don't use any gadgets that connect to the net and I'm not sure how secure they would be, so... Use at your own risk. ;)

No, I think it's a grub issue and not a Windows issue.

Oh boy... I am a troglodite in terms of partitions etc

    bear with me here...

Rufus - MBR, reboot, no success
    In Boot Repair: Recommended Repair
BR says: "The current session is in bios-compatibility mode please disable BIOS-compatibility"

    Next step?

edit:// I pressed F12 to see the current state of biz
Why? Because the system W10 had updated iteself to September update.

Now all I can see is the title GRUB and a blinking cursor - am I kaput?

    korben,

When you make the UFD with Rufus, choose GPT, not MBR.
When you boot the UFD, don't allow it to boot from "Boot Priority Order". Get into the Boot Menu. If you have CSM enabled in the UEFI Firmware then you will probably see two entries for the UFD. Choose the UEFI one.

With UEFI systems, it's better to have CSM (Compatibility Support Module) disabled in the firmware. Then you aren't offered MBR options in the Boot Menu.

My desktop icons move after a restart. I read that auto arrange icons unchecked and align icons to grid unchecked should stop it. Auto arrange icons unchecked is default but it still happened.

Yes happened to me a few times too. Build 2004 is the crappiest build Microsoft released.

It's in the top 2. I didn't have a lot of love for 1709 either. Fortunately 20H2 seems to make up for it.

Is there some way to change what icons show or not show in the bottom right sys tray like there was in Windows 7.

Right click Taskbar and click Taskbar Settings. Then scroll down to the Notification area options.
