I shall not be seeking 2004 as yet.

Downloaded the ISO and upgraded two computers. After a cleanup I gained 4.5 GB of free Space on one computer and 2 GB on the other. Nice.

Edit... those numbers refer to the Free Space gain over Win10 ver 1909.

Wow really? I always clean install even though it is a pain.

Did you upgrade with Emsisoft or Kaspersky installed? I always uninstall any security before an upgrade...

I've been upgrading the OS from an ISO ever since Win8. Never did a clean install since Win8, except for a test in a multi-boot. But that MB died three months ago. Never a software problem before the MB died. After an upgrade, all apps and settings are preserved. It's so easy and convenient.

My new computer (three months old) was upgraded from 1909 to 2004 this morning. The upgrade took 19 minutes. A clean install would take me a few days to install apps and tweaks. And the OS would be no better.

I've been running 2004 for a month, are you saying that the currently released version might be different?

I hear you on taking the time to get all the apps and tweaks done. But I always prefer it over the upgrades which can cause issues. I will need to test it out before rolling it out company wide. I was not offered it yet on my home PC but I run Enterprise edition. Strange enough, at work it showed up on my WSUS server so go figure. No one will get it yet until we test and approve it of course.

For most people in my company they just get the upgrade as you mentioned. But for me and a few other people, we always clean install.

    Trooper,

I just did a clean 2004 install for a multi-boot. The install took 9 minutes and I spent another few minutes installing display drivers and disabling Fast Startup. That's all I'll do at present as it's just a test OS.

    My test Win10 2004...

    hiberfil.sys (13 GB) was removed

    Code:
    powercfg -h off
Reserved Storage was removed (7.01 GB)

    Code:
    DISM.exe /Online /Set-ReservedStorageState /State:Disabled

Now the used space in the partition is 10.8 GB.
Small OS are good for testing as I can restore an image of this partition in 7 seconds.

Edit... A metadata based restore takes 3 seconds.

What's the difference between "English" and "English International"?

ISO's seem too large for a DVD again...

The ISO from the Media Creation Tool will fit on a DVD. It contains install.esd. I assume your ISO contains install.wim.

I've taken my laptop from Windows 7 to 8, 8.1, and every version of 10 as an update. I feel it runs as well as any other PC I come in to contact with. A lot of the OEM software and drivers for it have not been updated for anything newer than 7 and do not work on a clean install. It's probably time for a new one after 11 years of use but with a pair of SSDs installed it is still perfectly usable. In the days of Windows 9x and NT, 2000, and XP I would always clean install. These days if something isn't already corrupted I have had very few issues.
