I was Windows updating my old netbook today when I was offered the Feature update for Win10 2004 32 bit. I accepted and the download and install took almost 6 hours. It's a slow netbook.
I didn't think the Feature updates had been released but winver reports ver 2004.

No offer for Feature update here when selecting check for updates.
Your old netbook isn't on insider builds is it?

It was but I dropped out a few weeks ago. There was no mention of "Insider" in Windows update.

It is Win10 Version 2004 (OS Build 19041.207)

I hope my netbook didn't waste 6 hours.

Edit... It is an Insider build. Oh well.

As I mentioned earlier, the RTM version is out, mine is not an insider build:

ZDNet article on 2004 published several days ago

    • Release to OEMs/RTM: April 28, 2020
    • Availability to developers: April 28, 2020
    • General Availability: May 12, 2020
You have a Preview build because you were still taking part in the Insider Program so you're out of the official updates band.

What's so suspicious? .208 is a result of the cumulative update

No man I am always on a forum called MDL (My Digital Life) and those guys know the inside and outs of Microsoft Windows builds, this is the RTM version released a couple of days ago with the official ESD file from Microsoft then I converted to an ISO and performed an upgrade.
Just wait for the publick release in 12 days and install it over the top, no need to worry now.

I've just joined Insider Programme and dowloaded Windows 2004 build 19041.207. It took 65 minutes and a further update. I can't see any difference so far...
As usual system restore was turned on with the upgrade...

I left Insiders for the near future, specifically, the 19608 build made me go. Event Viewer was literally flooded with Schannel and DCOM events, nearly solid yellow and red in the System logs for days. Likewise, Applications logs were filled with ESENT and other warnings, almost more than the info messages. I submitted Feedback earlier but nothing had rectified them.

Honestly, it's a wonder the computer didn't malfunction or freeze, but it ran quite well, you'd never suspect. But I felt uncomfortable with this situation. Windows 1909 is neat, clean and powerful. I'll be sorry to see it go.

Unfortunate you have had these issues. I am on 19619 right now in a VM and have upgraded with each build that has properly installed. I do not see these issues myself. I have encountered several builds that would not install. I certainly would not go fast ring on a machine I use for anything but testing. Virtual Machines are a great testing tool. Sadly I don't know that I have had worse luck with most of the Insider builds than I have with the regular production builds.

Well, this seems the right way to go about it. Fast Ring builds have been historically good on here but that isn't something to hang your hat on indefinitely. I have an M.2 SSD and this tends to glitch in Insider builds, causing things like my having to run HitmanPro on compatible disk access otherwise the system freezes completely. So, I wonder if these huge amounts of errors have something in part to do with nvm-e. You say you don't have these errors? Here, except for HMP, the performance seems unaffected, they're just ugly in EV and make me uneasy. The vast amts of ESENT errors on here correlate w/chromium Edge browser, do you have this browser? In 1909, all the errors are nonexistent, it's night and day.

At any rate, I felt Windows 2004 was similar enough to 1909 to want to install it with confidence whenever it's released. :thumb:

I'm not having any abnormal errors in the logs. I'm running the latest Fast ring in VMWare and I am running 2004 on on my host PC and my laptop. No issues with 2004. I don't have any nvm-e storage but I am running SSD drives on all of them. I have only Edge installed in the fast ring build. I have Edge, Firefox, and Chrome (for testing only) on the host machines.

    Spartan,

I now have 19041.208. The same as your version. If it is the RTM version, why will we need to install the public release over the top? We should already have the public release. No?

no you're fine in that case if the build matches just leave the insiders preview when it's officially out.
