Just as an aside to a problem described by me in this thread, recently, I see that after my successful Recovery operation, it shows the reversion of Reliability Monitor, and on that particular day, i.e. JAN 12 [in the screenshot] that things were happening.

Microsoft Starts Pushing Windows 10 1909 to More Devices

Microsoft has increased the forced rollout of Windows 1909 to devices running Windows 1809 or earlier so they are unaffected by the approaching end of service for these versions.

"We are starting the next phase in our controlled approach to automatically initiate a feature update for an increased number of devices running the October 2018 Update (Windows 10, version 1809) Home and Pro editions, keeping those devices supported and receiving the monthly updates that are critical to device security and ecosystem health. Our rollout process starts several months in advance of the end of service date to provide adequate time for a smooth update process."
The Health Dashboard also states that Windows 10 1909 is now available to any user running a recent version of Windows.

"Windows 10, version 1909 is available for any user on a recent version of Windows 10 who manually selects “Check for updates” via Windows Update. The recommended servicing status is Semi-Annual Channel."

Microsoft has canceled its Windows Insider PWA

It's been well over a year since Microsoft announced it was working on a Windows Insider app, which was meant to be a Progressive Web App.
As you might have guessed given how long it's been since then, Microsoft today announced that the Windows Insider PWA has been canceled, and the company no longer plans to test or publicly release the app, also known as Project Catnip.

As noted in the blog post for today's build, the company stumbled into some technical limitations, meaning it wouldn't be able to offer the experiences it intended to deliver with the app.
The news is somewhat unfortunate, since some users might have wanted to interact with the Insider program when they're not using PCs with Insider builds. Being a PWA, the app would have allowed any device, including smartphones, to access these features.

This is the second build I can't install since they have moved the fast ring off of the 2004 build. I don't know if it's because it's a VM. If so you would have thought they should have learned something from last year but apparently they are as good at this as they are ever going to get.

Has anyone had problems with automatic Lock Screen not working? I've set the screensaver timeout to a few minutes, with Display logon screen on resume. I found that it wouldn't lock automatically at all and discovered that my screensaver settings are not remembered. If I change the screensaver settings and apply, they are not saved. Once I open the screensaver settings again, it's reset to 30 minutes and no logon screen on resume. I had this problem before on 1809, discovered it happened after I setup Blackbird, when I removed Blackbird everything was fine again. Now on 1909 the problem is back but I don't use Blackbird anymore.

Ad network AdDuplex has published its first Windows devices statistics report for 2020 this morning, which gives us a first glimpse at the propagation of the Windows 10 November 2019 Update since its release in November.
15.2% of the 90,000 surveyed PCs running AdDuplex ads are already running the latest version of Windows 10, while the May 2019 Update is now at 53.4%. “Two-thirds of Windows 10 PCs now run some 2019 edition of the OS,” noted AdDuplex.

The company also shared new data about Surface devices in its latest snapshot, showing that the Surface Pro 7 released back in October is quickly catching to older Surface Pro models. It’s now the sixth most popular device with a 5.05% usage share, while the new Surface Laptop 3 and Surface Pro X are lagging way behind with 1.42% and 0.54%, respectively.

KB4532695 is having lots and lots of problems, ranging from the Blue screen of death (BSOD) to breaking down the fundamental features. As per the new reports, KB4532695 disables sound and internet connectivity for some users.

I haven't been able to install a fast ring build since they split it off the slow ring 2004 build. They all fail on the reboot. I guess I don't have an immediate need to do so and I assume I will eventually come across one that works.

Microsoft delays Optional updates setting for Windows 10

Back in 2019, Microsoft announced it would add ‘Optional updates’ option to Windows Update settings page. Microsoft said new Optional updates page will let you manage improvements for optional updates such as drivers, monthly feature updates, and non-security patches released every month.

It looks like Microsoft has changed its mind and new Optional updates setting won’t arrive in Windows 10’s upcoming 20H1 update.
This change was quietly announced in the release notes of Windows 10 20H1 Build 19035, which was released on December 4, 2019.

“We’ve completed the experiment related to how we deliver driver updates through Windows Update. Devices that were involved in the experiment will no longer see the Optional Updates link under Settings > Windows Update,” Microsoft said.
It appears that the new Optional updates experience will come out in October/November 2020, not this spring as previously planned.
The announcement was made by Microsoft in the release notes of Windows 10 20H2 Build 19536, which was released to Fast Ring testers on December 16, 2019.

Windows 10, version 1809 will reach the end of servicing on May 12, 2020. This applies to the following editions* of Windows 10 released in November of 2018:

• Windows 10 Home, version 1809
• Windows 10 Pro, version 1809
• Windows 10 Pro for Education, version 1809
• Windows 10 Pro for Workstations, version 1809
• Windows 10 IoT Core, version 1809
These editions will no longer receive security updates after May 12, 2020. Customers who contact Microsoft Support after this date will be directed to update their device to the latest version of Windows 10 to remain supported.
