S mode is just a mitigation in the Exploit Mitigation toolkit. You basically allow only signed Store apps - or everything.
I've outlined this in my exploit mitigation tutorial. He he.

I had a rather odd thing happen yesterday on Win 10 1803. I opened one of my photos and thought ''what is going on here?''
All my photos were listed that I had taken on that day back to 2007.
I then realised Timeline had somehow captured them
I have never enabled Timeline. Nothing is ticked.

The only thing I can think of is that I had checked settings (as you do) and realised that in Privacy Camera access although 'Allow apps to access your camera' was off, the bit above it said it Camera access for this device was on so I pressed change and turned it off.

This somehow seems to have triggered Timeline for Photos on my PC.
After boot this morning (no FastBoot) all is back to normal.

Indeed and MS is surprised, why people insist on using XP/7, when anything can change/break within 10 thanks to a tiny update.

Like I have found only today, that MS has decided to deny users uninstalling network protocols (since 1803), because those people do know, what they are doing. Like common users would ever do that, they do not even know, how to setup DNS. And all this time, since it was released, I was waiting for a fix. I had to do it myself. Well, at least I have learnt something again. :shifty:

I just came back to this Win10 x64 1803 machine to find a BSOD. What do I do about this?

Have a look in Reliability History to see if anything was installed by Windows beforehand.

I never understood why they didn't make this optional, I see they have finally come to their senses.

When I will switch to Win 10, I'm planning to disable Windows Updates and install an anti-spying tool to disable most of that telemetry crap and never look back. I will not deal with all of this garbage just look how many problems are caused by these so called "improvements".

Microsoft employees are not satisfied with the internal support they require in order to effectively meet customer needs. An internal Microsoft employee satisfaction survey, that was leaked to CNBC , shows a 47%-49% satisfaction level in 2015-2016 with internal protocols. The satisfaction level rose 9% in 2017-2018, so some issues have obviously been addressed by the company. Windows 10 (WaaS) was introduced in 2015, so this survey is a direct link to that deliverable.

It is not overly surprising that front line employees get frustrated with internal processes and procedures, but when they believe it has a negative effect on meeting customers' needs - over the 4 year period that encompasses the implementation of their new business strategy, which is service based - it should raise eyebrows, both internally as well as externally.

Overall, the survey indicates that Microsoft employees are very satisfied with their jobs, their company and their products. It is clear that they have high expectations of themselves as well as their company. Hopefully, their management responds positively to their feedback.

My reference is to the results (employee responses) to the questions in the survey, see tables in the link ...

No problems here either, and I didn't even perform a clean install of the update.

I wish I hadn't said that, now my PC will probably collapse into a smoking pile of rubble :cautious:

In my case, version 1803 performs as well as it should. After all dust settled down after installing the April update on April 30th, the only "glitch" I had was the error or mistake that would label my feedback frequency as Insider program under Settings>Privacy>Diagnostic & feedback>Feedback frequency. That was fixed by latest patch. As I understand it, most users if not everyone had same issue. Anyone who had that issue, can check, it should be fixed now. Now, you should be able to choose the frequency as you wish.
