Thanks, thats how mine is set. I asked because I gotten a couple of times a Service control manager error 7023 for that Service when cold starting the laptop. According to Viper, that service is supposed to be Manual. I was thinking that perhaps I had that service not as is supposed. Most likely I am getting the error after switching to off some setting somewhere in Settings.

I gave up and went back to 1709. As far as this particular laptop, 1803 is the new Win ME. Win 1709 is great. The previous was great. This one just has too many problems, and it seems a new problem each day.

The final straw was this morning when it froze. Restart and froze again. I can live without sound and minor nuisances but not when it won't run. I set the features/updates tab in settings to 200 days in this 1709. If it really stops feature updates for that long, we'll see.

Maybe MS will have it figured out by then.

Depsite all the issues that are constantly being reported. I find it interesting that in this poll the majority has voted that it is running smoothly for them.

I don't know about you guys, but ever since I've been using Win 10 and its updates/upgrades, I have never experienced anything too unpleasant. As a matter of fact, Windows 10 is the best Windows in my experience.

Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 runs in 500 million machines (May 10, 2017, therefore by extrapolation I guess 600 million could be the real figure)
    https://www.theverge.com/2017/5/10/15604374/microsoft-windows-10-500-million-devices

This is a large number which means that updates and upgrades can't be flawless for everybody...

Macs have fewer problems because the hardware is propriety, and they have fewer machines as well (about 100 million (April 4, 2017)
    https://www.theverge.com/2017/4/4/15176766/apple-microsoft-windows-10-vs-mac-users-figures-stats

I have two fast laptops, to get the same performance from Mac I would have to pay about $1000 more... No way.

For those who rely on WDEG for protection in Win 10 and had a bunch of custom rules set up, I advise you review them in the 1803 upgrade installation. I had a bunch of custom settings for IE11 for example. Those were all overridden and the only app setting for IE11 set on is now forced ASLR randomization. Go figure?

The upgrade to 1803 changed a lot of my settings in Privacy and other areas in Settings. A couple of days ago, I turned off a lot of stuff that had been reenabled. I think this upgrade reset more settings that previous upgrades.

I see it's dropped to 20.5%, but even that surprises me. I've upgraded a dozen PCs with no issues whatsoever. 1709 was the one that gave me problems. So far for me 1804 is the best and 1709 was the worst. It just shows how varied everyone's experience can be.

Yes, I counted only those that actually updated. I see no point in counting those that did not update yet. There is ATM 18/64 (28.1%) of users having problems.

On one of my laptops, that I upgraded to build 7134.1, from 17133.1, the Start Menu, Notifications and the Microsoft Store, weren't opening. I ran the default repairs using the latest version of tweaking.com's Windows Repair in Safe Mode and this fixed the issues and it works fine now.

My main PC, no problems as well, but my laptop is a disaster. BSOD about twice a day, booting Windows takes almost 5 mins, previously max 2 mins.

This sums it up. Precise dates can be deceiving, as MS has found out itself, related to 1803 or shall I say 1805. :)

Good point. That said, people that are having problems are way more likely to post about it than those that aren't, so I wonder what the actual percentage would be.

1803 has actually fixed a problem that I've had with two of my Win 10 computers since the update after the Anniversary Update. After the AU, I no longer got the "like what you see?" thingy on the Windows Spotlight photos, that gives you an option to change the photo if you are "not a fan". I assumed that feature had been discontinued until I set up the third Win 10 machine last year, this time using a different MS account to sign in with, and I realised it was simply broken on my other two. It was no biggie, but I did some googling and realised lots of people had the same issue as well as various problems with Windows Spotlight, especially folk in countries that do not support Cortana (my country NZ doesn't, we have to choose Australia or the UK if we want to use Cortana). Anyway since 1803 I've got the function back on the two that lost it. Nice to be able to pick and choose again!

Yes, that is the case here. Once Edge has been opened and closed it no longer runs in the background. I'm using another browser as default for now while hoping they stop that behaviour.

I cannot for the life of me get rid of the language bar on a fresh install of Windows 10 1803. The option I'd usually use to remove a language pack is greyed out. Even changing the Language Bar to 'Hidden' has no effect.

For anyone that's interested, you can still do the free upgrade from Windows 7/8.x to 10. I didn't need to run a specific version of the Media Creation Tool, which is something that some of the upgrade guides I've seen recently, tell you to do. I just had to enter my Windows 7 product key in Windows 10.

I ran the installer for the April update from Windows 7 Pro and selected to keep nothing. Once Windows was installed, it was unactivated, as computer had not been previously updated, so it did not already have a Windows 10 license. I was given the option to change the product key. I entered the Windows 7 key from the laptop's COA sticker and then I was asked if wanted to activate Windows. After which, Windows 10 Pro was activated.

The April update is running fine so far on this computer, as it is on other computers I've installed it on. I haven't upgraded my main computer, as of yet.

I've got the exact same here, hopefully it's just a bug and not something we're stuck with:doubt:

Windows 10: control Bitlocker during upgrades
Microsoft added new command line options to Windows 10 version 1803 to control BitLocker behavior during the upgrade to keep it alive and not suspend BitLocker during upgrades.
