If ctrl/alt/del doesn't even bring up that screen, hard shutdown is the only way to go.

Maybe I should have said 'when it works' rather than 'if it works' - I have had instances when I have just had e.g. a blue spinning circle, and that screen does not come up ...

I posted this link a few times over the past month but nobody replied. I have been running the enterprise version. I have deleted the VM three times and after reinstalling it again. I get 90 more days each time. So make sure you save the download.
You even posted it in august of last year.

 

I wonder if / when those features will be available to regular users (users of Home version with only basic computing knowledge)?

 

The new security features will be available in the coming fall Creators' Update.

I missed that one. Where did you read that again? What I saw was enterprise , educational and server.

 

I didn't, that was my question. I also guess it will be Enterprise only.

 

Looks like EMET will become part of Windows and they'll have improved anti-execution control and additional zero-day malware protection - particularly against rapidly evolving ransomware outbreaks.

Windows Defender is well on the way towards doing more than countering AV threats.
