In my opinion it's much better to try the upgrade first, if the upgrade failes try a clean boot, and if that fails start from fresh. More than likely, the upgrade will complete without any issues, and if it does you won't lose anything.

For the most part I really like Windows 10 (using Pro version), but a few nuisances, especially MS' decision to deprecate the options of displaying a message or sending an email using Task Scheduler :thumbd: Now it will take writing a cumbersome Power Shell script to do so.

For displaying a message you can use option Start a program, in program field you put msg in arguments field you put * Message. I used this workaround on Windows 8.1, it might still work on Windows 10.

That fast? Earlier versions of Windows lasted nearly a good decade. Good thing Windows 7 is still being supported through 2020.

didn't like the comment Woody made about CCleaner. He doesn't recommend it because too many people have messed up their computers cleaning the registry. The CCleaner I use always makes a registry backup before cleaning it.

If you join the Insider Program and select Fast Ring you should be able to install it.

"Today we are excited to be releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16179 for PC to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring. We are also releasing Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 15204 to Insiders in the Fast ring."
