    @korben :

    As @roger_m explained above :

The metered connection option are a feature you use to mark those of your connections where you risk paying extra - non-flat rate connections.

Home and work connections will typically be flat rate connections.

3G/4G dongles will typically not be flat rate connections.

Setting just the dongle to metered connection will mean that Windows will wait to download huge updates until you once again are connected to home or work network.

Instead of doing the update download over the dongle, where you might develop sudden pains located in your wallet/credit card area ;)

That will only defer updates for so long. You cannot defer updates for Win10 permanently.

Why use a device capable of processing code, if you're against patching found flaws ??

Pen and paper might be better, if you prefer everything to be static.

To be frank, I have used XP SP 2 and W 7 SP1, only this form of upgrade used to work flawlessly.

Now with W10 questionable reputation I might never update it unless I really have to.

Someone needs to write a patch to allow users to postpone updates.

Forced updates are dangerous and poorly written updates can bork your system.

A myth spreading like wildfire due to mass medias constant craving for fueling mass hysteria.

It all boils down to end users that thinks they know more about the code in their OS then the teams that develops the OS.

The cold, hard truth is - end users that tinkers with settings in registry and GPO without any clue of the impact a given setting might have and/or end users that installs all kinds of third-party "security" that makes parts of the OS malfunction - those users actions can in 99% of the cases be tracked down as the cause when a patch fails.

If those customers continue having issues with their Windows 10 setups, then perhaps it's time for those customers to have a fresh pair of eyes looking at how their systems have been set up :)

    :)
What a relief. And I was afraid it was caused by MS updates. It's nice to be assured that their updates can never break anything - it's always user's or administrator's fault. Thank you for reassuring me.

    You are welcome. :)
Glad we got it sorted out before anyone started to panic.

Especially since every sys.admin will already know how and where to tag, bag and report any issues found within their organization, so even the strangest setups can be helped back up and running.

Windows 10 user management - Account Savant

May you enjoy this little guide on user management and creation of new accounts in Windows 10, including step-by-step procedure, online versus local, heavy focus on promotional software in the new user desktop and menu, other observations, and more. I said enjoy.

I know I should test it myself, but I still would like to hear some opinions before the inevitable problems of an upgrade. Windows 10 upgrade is free until July 29, a good offer from MS, but what are the differences, if any, compared to Windows 8.1?
