It will also be available completely malware free from many download sites.

Winamp and Mediamonkey (for tagging and organising) were my choice for a long long time, especially when machine resources were limited and things like Windows Media Player took too much system resources to run along side my day to day software.
The only addon I used was the Album browser one (can't remember the exact name).
Foobar became popular, but the early versions had poor album management, so I still continued to use Winamp.

If Microsoft is the buyer as rumored, then I will have no interest in it and would rather it had died peacefully. There is very little chance that it won't end up a part of the "XBox experience".

Winamp’s name servers switch from AOL to online radio firm Radionomy amid reports of acquisition.

On November 20, 2013, AOL announced that Winamp.com would shut down on December 20, 2013, and the software would no longer be available for download, nor supported by the company after that date. The following day, an unofficial report surfaced that Microsoft was in talks with AOL to acquire the intellectual property of Winamp and Shoutcast. Despite AOL's announcement, the Winamp site was not shut down as planned, and on January 1, 2014, it was reported that Winamp.com's name server had been switched from AOL to Radionomy, a Belgium-based online radio service, indicating that a deal had possibly been reached.

That question would have been more hilarious and valid had the program been sold to MS and thrown into CrapBox.
