    Hi,

I found this great little tool that will transform the rather clumsy Win7 start menu back to the good old XP style.

Classic Shell is available here : http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/

    Screenshot : http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/images/screenshot.png

Installation is easy, and tool is a tiny resident exe, consuming close to 0 CPU all around.

    ....

If you also would prefer to ditch the large pinned to taskbar program for the good old quick launch bar, here's how :

To re-enable Quick Launch, do the following:

Right-click the taskbar, choose Toolbars / New Toolbar
In the folder selection dialog, enter the following string and hit OK:

    %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

Right-click the taskbar, and turn off the checkmark next to "lock the taskbar", and right-click on the divider. Make sure that "Show text" and "Show title" are disabled and the view is set to "small icons".
Use the dividers to rearrange the toolbar ordering to choice, and then lock the taskbar again.

Have fun in Win7 with the XP style Start Menu.

I've been using this for a little while now and like it, all except the Start Menu part. All of it that I have used works well except the status bar extension. It kinda comes and goes on it's own. The author said a fix for it was in the works. All in all, it's a great addon

CSMenu for Win7 looks relaxing to the eye, than its current, Start Menu. (For meh)
Too bad Win7 menu doesn't strike that impression.
Thank you for starting this Thread::thumb:

Its actually much better than CSMenu. I'd liked the classic menu and was annoyed when Microsoft removed it. Classic Shell works well, has drop and drag and you can arrange folders and its hard to beat the price.

You can put the start menu in rocketdock but you won't get a running list of applications.

Classic Shell is definitely the way to go on a Windows 7 machine!
