Hi, popped back a bit earlier than expected, so i thought i'd see how you're doing. I'm only here for a short while, as i will be out again soon, but i will be back later on for you.

    OK good.

You didn't answer about Avast ?

    Re - MBAM log

Good, of course that's with the slightly older database, due to the newer one not integrating ! But still it shows there "appears" to nothing that it recognised with what it had.

Now Run the SAS Database Definitions file, Not SAS itself, but the file you DL'd earlier on. This should update the Actual SAS App & bring it up to date. If it does say it's updated = good, if not launch SAS, but do NOT scan yet, & check the updated Defs date. If it's from the day you DL'd the file = good & let me know.

Even if it hasn't updated, go & CAREFULLY look at the screenies i made earlier for you on how to configure it, then Scan, & afterwards save the Log & upload it here. But not as you have been doing up until now. You need to work out how to upload .txt files = Logs & it's NOT hard. Here's how

    a.gif

    b.gif

    c.gif

I've shown me about to upload a .gif for another thread i've posted in, but the principle is the SAME.

I'm pretty sure it was when I ran SAS that you gasped that I scanned the cookies, implying I had missed a setting, but I've gone over these again and my config is just like yours.

So...not seeing it any different than how I already have it set (from the previous time), I'm scanning now...

What have you got for me then ? Fire ..........

Scanning with SAS = good, let me know when it's finished, should be quicker than MBAM ;)

uh. i got nuthin. SAS is scanning... And I'm sorry for not being here to check earlier... I could've gotten SAS running earlier but i just had to get my shopping done. It wasn't even fun. My kitchen floor is covered w/grocery bags full of stuff that has to be put away, too, which I will do while SAS scans unless you've got something else for me to do.

definitely? I've not double-checked. and i won't attempt anything like that while we're scanning, working, etc. but i think i do.

what's the weather over there like?

    Yes you could !

    Good :p

    Wash the floor :p

It was quite nice, now it's night time :D

    Good

Good, but did it Update OK ? You didn't say ? What is the date of the Defs ?
    It's not ;)

    You must be

As it didn't find ANY "harmful software" today, there is no point in uploading todays Log, or another. So if it DID update properly, we can move on :thumb: If not let me know

    Re - SAS

Right, well leave that for now, close it.

Now i want you to reconnect the PC to the router so you can go online. But NOT to visit ANY other www's or email etc etc, apart from the ones i give you links for. Naturally i expect your home page will launch, but don't waste time on there.

When you're online copy/paste this www into your browser http://www.surfright.nl/en & DL Hitman Pro 3.5 to the PC's desktop, then close the browser, but stay online on the PC.

Let me know when you have, from the LAPTOP only.

    Very good :thumb:

Does the PC seem even more responsive etc than a few days ago ?

I would suggest doing a FULL scan with Avast now. SO let me know how that goes.

uh. um. i really have no idea of the status of the firewall on this compy.

in fact, microsoft kept hollering at me that my system was in dire peril (if it only knew the extent!) because the antivirus software was not running (i was trying, dangit!).

it says "firewall not monitored"... i don't know what that means nor what to do about it.....

it is hard to say on its responsiveness since i'm not doing much nor the same thing i was doing (searching for files) when it was so slow.

and what we are doing, i've not done before (or its been ages ago and i don't recall), so have nothing to which to compare it...

    closing hitman pro 3.5.8

running avast. let it update, i presume?

    [cue Jeopardy 'waiting' music....]

i'll assume you've stepped away so i went ahead and told it to scan.

already it is at 7% where the last time we did this (was that only yesterday??), it seemed to took forever to get to 1%.

seems like a good thing so far!

i'm stepping away to fix family dinner and put all this stinking meat away. :D
