Not that great. They used avast! v7 in the test so the results won't be any different than the last ones. C'mon, test v8 already...

Yes, but since Evo Gen / Similarity Search are cloud based and are distributed from stream updates / FileRep DB we should also see great results even in v7... But autosandbox's improvements are only in v8.

Not good to see PC Tools out of the testing this year :(

But I'm happy to see Dr.Web is finally back into (public) international tests :)

Don't the vendors have a say in which programs of theirs are tested? Seems Avast would want 8 tested if Avast thinks it is better than 7.

I would have been certainly anxious to see Avast & Comodo do with their new versions/new technologies. :D

but now after seeing past year's test results and etc I am no more have been trusting these organizations and I am no more getting any happier about any of these test result releases and now "if it works for me,its best for me" is my policy.

Just my opinion. No pun intended. :-*

    Same here.

Do they test realtime? Comodo's Cloud Detections & Avast's Evo-Gen & FileRep Detections are very good.

This is a combined result from Jan+Feb 2013 testing, so no Avast 8 yet (it was released by the end of Feb).

Anyway, both Av-comp and Av-test should publish their March "real-world" test results soon and these should include Avast 8.

    Thanks
    Vlk

Looking forward to those tests (assuming they'll be real-world and not some on-demadn only). This current one won't be of much interest.

    Avast 7 did very well.

Zero day 98 and 100 for Jan, Feb
Widespread 99 and 100 for Jan, Feb,

    Zero false positive.

    http://www.av-test.org/no_cache/en/tests/test-reports/?tx_avtestreports_pi1[report_no]=130599

Kaspersky was about the same at 98 100 and 100 100 but had 6 False positives and Bit Defender was 100 100 100 100 but had 3 false positives.

So Avast 7 did basically the same as the top paid programs. So if Avast 8 is better, then it is amazing.

Comodo Internet Security Premium had 84 100 and 90 100 and 22 false positives. http://www.av-test.org/no_cache/en/tests/test-reports/?tx_avtestreports_pi1[report_no]=130519

The actual test for avast will be when the march result for AV-C and AV-Test release..This result is nothing but very close to spectacular in my opinion as evo-gen was pretty new at that point and there are improvements they made after that I guess. :)

Yes statistically it seems no different than Kaspersky and Bitdefender. All three did 100 and 100 in February, and in January it was 98, 98 and 100 respectively in zero day for Avast, Kaspersky and Bitdefender. Not much difference on detection. But the latter two had false positives whereas Avast had none.

Comodo got quite a low score in the zero day protection test which is extremely surprising.

...and the smear campaign against AV-test.org has started :ninja: . Comodo users can be very loud if their products are questioned (good for the company!). The best defense is the attack :D

I really don't see what the issue is. Despite the points allotted, the fact that a product got certified indicates that it is still good enough to protect an average user in the real world. For example, I have been using PC Tools IS for a while now - it gets mediocre results at best, but I can assure you it has saved me when I was careless and protected the computer well enough in the time that I have used it.

I think people should really just accept the test results as they are - the only thing that really matters is whether it meets the minimum certification or not. :)
