Bought a used computer with True Image already installed (v9.0). I've added a Linux partition as a dual boot with XP. True Image sees both partitions. Was wondering is TI will backup my Linux install and if so, do I run it from Windows or Linux after mounting the drive? Thanks.

You can backup Linux partitions from either Windows or by booting from the rescue cd. Same for restoring. Note that you may need to fix GRUB/LILO after restoring the Linux partition so that it will boot.

TI Home can not be installed in Linux, so you can't run it from there.

    Hello jacatone,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Would like to confirm perfect MudCrab reply and in addition point you to this thread <how image dual-boot>, which can be useful.

Also check this thread <windows and linux backup>. Note that ability to restore the zero track with master boot record (MBR) was implemented in Acronis True Image starting with the build 3567, thus, we would recommend that you download and install the latest build (3854) of Acronis True Image 9.0 Home in order to be able to use this option. To get access to updates you should first register your software.

    Thank you.
