    that's extremely unlikely to happen.

    and even if it did.

v5.x is going to be much easier to maintain since it's more modular and coded in ANSI C vs win32 assembly.

I think we all get that. The sticking point for some though is the advertising on the site which clearly says your program works with ALL browsers. It does, but it doesn't with version 11 of IE for the reasons you specify. As far as v4.93 and IE is concerned, perhaps there should be a note to the effect 'works with IE up to and including IE 10'. It's only a suggestion to appease those IE 11 users while they wait for version 5.x, and to possibly deflect claims of false advertising from some quarters.

I voted no and I have a lifetime licence. Given up hope after years of empty promises.
Testing Adguard at the moment...vastly better, cheaper and great support.
Isn't that what paying customers deserve.

I'm testing AdGuard too. Frankly, I'm just sick of hearing the nonsense from the AM people. It's a shame when evasive and misleading people have their names in orange on this site. That's not the usual case as most on here that have their name in orange can be fully trusted as experts. I would't spend a cent on AM if they came out with a fully functional version tomorrow. Their reputation is getting close to the bottom feeders, such as SuperAntiSpyare and DiamondDCS.

I've been using adguard for just 4 weeks now, really can't fault it....The support from avatar and response to suggestions is excellent...admuncher is a 'has been' Its gone well beyond 'too little, too late'.....They haven't a chance of saving face now.....Keep up with the empty promises Jeff, you'll fool a few with any luck.

'No' vote is a no brainer. Admuncher's day has passed. I'm glad my Wilder's friends also see them for what they are.

"no" is the only possible answer really. but it seems, it's more than just not releasing the "around-the-corner" version 5. i have a premium lifetime license and i send a support request days ago. never received an answer! things just keep getting better...

Can I change my vote from "Yes" to "No"? If not subtract one from yes and add one to no. By reading the Ad Muncher Forum it looks like it will not be released this year. Maybe in year 20?? My license expires in January, I believe I will not renew.

I'm not renewing even though I got some email from them claiming how it was essentially my duty to give them money for support. The admuncher people have zero credibility and hopefully the ones affiliated with that company have the orange letters removed from their name here on Wilders.

Good question, I looked around but didn't find any other article mentioning this so hard to say. :doubt:

Before this post gets locked up like all the other Ad Muncher posts on this forum I would like to add my 2 cents. I posted the following on the Ad Muncher Forum:
    *********
    Hi Jeff,
I've learned in my military career and truck driving career "Never burn any bridges behind you because you never know if you'll have to go back and cross over them again". That being said, it's been a pleasure knowing you. I have switched over to Adguard Premium Lifetime which is working excellent. There is just too much drama and unanswered questions about Ad Muncher on this forum and on Wilders Forum. One just has to go back and read the posts. I wish you and Murray the best. :D
    Thank you,
    Dave.

We all learn from mistakes and some of our mistakes may cost us some $$$. Let's stop complaining which will probably start soon in this thread and move on. Remember: "What goes around, comes around." If you don't like Ad Muncher find a different software. I did. :)

So the developers request that customers wait longer as well as describe their latest circumstance with carefully chosen words?
"...the preview of v5 as promised, which is scheduled for publication next week.." Can be interpreted as only the preview being published (beta download), or just published information about what version 5 will have in its change log.

Also, it appears there is more marketing ploy involved as the developer points out that he's not being paid fairly for all his work combined with him getting married recently. This is to build sympathy and empathy with the audience. Also he does not dispute turning down a $10 Million offer for his company and adds he recently went on a 3 day honeymoon...so it doesn't sound like he's hurting for money.

Anyway, as ominous as it sounds, the last time a "version 5" was released to news of a sellout job was the infamous SAS. So do not be surprised to see a version 5 preview release (aka alpha) with requests for users to test it and provide feedback (without compensation). Actually the prospective buyers are just wanting the software to be ready for https and the latest internet browsers before buying. Then, eventually, version 5 will be released along with "great news" about new ownership. And the original developer walks away with his pockets full of cash.

These purchases are not done overnight. They involve a long process. Most likely talks have been ongoing for a while and will continue until a deal is made. And most of the time that final deal includes the software having features and enhancements that are ready for the marketplace (ie - needing people to alpha and beta test the product for free). So if there is some announcement about needing alpha and beta testers for version 5 it probably means your efforts are needed and meant to be manipulated and exploited while a behind the scenes sale is being negotiated....which is exactly what happened with version 5 of SAS.

I dislike his 'complaint' of not being paid fairly.. Clearly Admuncher has supported him, and Jeff for many years, as both admit it is basically their sole source of income. Also to those of us that have spent money on it, this is sort of a hurtful thing to say. Especially when I have blown $300 on Admuncher, which ranks up there in terms of what I have spent on any single software package over the years. Murray isn't making 200K a year, and he feels 'underpaid' and wants our sympathy?

The fact is, Admuncher is a no-brainer for a self sustaining program. He's invested zero effort into the current released version, yet it continues to pay his bills. How can anyone complain about that? If he wants a raise, then I recommend he release v5, and live up to the promises made to thousands of customers. That's his raise.

I think from a marketing strategy to sell the AdMuncher company there has to be a perceived upside for the buyer, otherwise a buyer just looks at the number of subscribers who may renew and the value of the product name as there really isn't a market share increase possible with the current version of AM. In that regard, it makes perfect sense for the developer not to upgrade AM to Windows 8 or add the ability to filter https. The program lacking those features creates a perceived value to a potential buyer of AM. If those features are added then the market share increases as the number of renewals and new customers increase. So the developer can increase the value of AM because of a perceived value of the product by the buyer of AM if those features are added.

Agreed. As it sits I wouldn't pay 10K for Admuncher. But by releasing v5 as a stable, effective product, with a new licensing scheme that addresses the lifetime members, and increases base revenue, Admuncher would become a 'sell-able' product, possibly worth millions. So v5 becomes an imperative suddenly now that his 10mil offer vaporized.

    His choices now seem simple;

    1) Sell AM in a firesale, and burn his reputation to dust.
    2) Engineer v5, turn it into a top-grade product again.

Option 2 opens up a tremendous amount of flexibility, so it seems the most logical. But they should have figured out Option 2 was the way to go years ago, after promising v5, and making many many commitments to it's release. There will be some 'rebuilding' of reputations even after v5. Especially in view of vastly superior solutions existing like Adguard. However they could accomplish this within a few months with good effort, and some clever design/programming decisions.

Sorry guys I am not with you all. I still have hope for Ad Muncher and support Jeff and Murray fully. No one has tricked me either. I can't wait until next week!

Doesn't look like we'll be hearing anything this week, as Murray indicated here.
