All I know is that I was getting time-outs every time I tried to get in - and I was beginning to worry!

Ah, don't thank me. I'm just along for the ride most of the times like all of you. ;)

    Why were we down?

We're looking into it... but don't expect too specific an answer. These things can't always be determined precisely enough for us to say. I checked for damage and there wasn't any, so no posts were lost and we're up now.

    Ladies and gents,

We have had some CPU issues to deal with, ending up in the server being down.

For the time being, we managed to find a solution. Since we'll have to cope with issues like these in the long term, we are working on a long term solution in the meanwhile.

Be assured the solution will be a good one - and an improvement overall .

Of course we will keep you posted.

    regards.

I couldn't find any cookies around here for the crew at Wilders, so ...

    [Let's try this yet again!]

I hope there's enough to go around! ;)

Sorry for the inconvenience. I'm sure it's a frustrating situation, and thanks for the update. With all the DoS attacks going on it sort of makes you wonder when you can't reach a security forum these days. Glad you got it resolved, and glad it wasn't a DoS.

The good thing is the problem has been quickly and efficiently dealt with. :)

Phew! After all those DDoS attacks, the dreaded "This Page Cannot Be Displayed" message never fails to give people a scare...

    BS :)

OK OK I confess - I nabbed the server CPU thinking I would put together another PC at my place but when everyone started complaining I gave it back

Well, you know the old saying, "confession is good for the soul". So, as long as you gave it back...

    No DDoS for sure ;).

As usual, we are anticipating - closely keeping an eye on all aspects in regard to the server, board - you name it.

Without going into details, we have been rather busy as for needed changes - but they do take time. In this particular case, time hasn't been on our side, so to speak.

Then again: as always we want to make sure the changes wanted are full proof. In case this results in a - rare - downtime for a short period, so it'll be. A small price to pay for a full proof solution we aim at in the end ;)

    regards,

    paul

OK, guys. It was my fault. One of my kids let the dog in. He came running into where I was (at the PC on Wilders) jumped on me and I yelled "Down Boy" and ---well--- ummmm---I gotta go.
