Why is 1 GB equal to 10^9 bytes instead of 2^30?

Link is broken. Giga is decimal prefix, gibi is binary prefix. Giga = 10^9, gibi is 2^30.

    Tom,

    The web link doesn't work.

    1 GB = 10^9 bytes

    1 GiB=2^30 bytes
