Currently I hace MS Anti-Spyware, Ewido and Spyware Doctor on my pc, all on-demand scan only (and therefore all free so far). However, I have taken a descision to buy/have a real-time anti-spyware/malware program running. So should I choose Ewido or Spyware Doctor? MS A/S I find a bit too heavy and annoying for anything other than on-demand, plus its MS.

    Any ideas/suggestions?

    Cheers

Are you aware of the fact that you are asking this question in the Ewido forums? o_O

Not that that would change my answer. :D

    Regards,

    Pieter

I could have posted it in the "other anti spyware" thread area, but then I could be wrong either way.

I would hope most replies would be honest asessments, and not overly biased.

edit: apologies for posting in the wrong area, and thanks to the mod for moving it.

I had Spyware Doctor before and I did change for Ewido about a year ago. Never regret it.:)

I currently use Trend Micro Anti-Spyware. Very satisfied. Although Ewido is good. But I like the way TMAS "feels" better.

My opinion is that Ewido is better for finding trojans and SpywareDoctor is better for general spyware detection. Neither is exactly what I would call "light" in the realtime area. So I guess it's really down to what you want greater realtime protection against, trojans or spyware. Of course there are many other ways to get the realtime protection you seek against malware and some are better or worse than these two fine programs.

Have you also considered something like oline armor, appdefend or processguard?

for mainly spyware I would choose SpySweeper rather then SpyWareDoctor lol ... because of the updates/shields/engine which is better then spywaredoctor.

for a general AntiMalware Program: Ewido!

I already have Process Guard, Regdefend, Appdefend, as well as Wormguard, TDS3 and Nod32. Only TDS3 does'nt run real-time.

I have started to consider Spysweeper now too...

Either would be a good choice. BUT...SywareDoctor does have a generic keylogger guard, which does a very good job....where as ewido doesn't really have a keylogger guard. Supposedly newer versions of ewido may have one, but as of now they don't. Spyware Doctor also has a real-time cookie guard which is very useful, which the new version of ewido supposedly will have as well.

I would wait until ewido 4.0 is released sometime in the next month or so, to see what all features it will have. If they've added the generic keylogger guard (which relies on behavioral characteristics rather than solely on definitions), then it would be a good choice. If that feature isn't included, then Spyware Doctor would be a good choice as well, and you could keep ewido around for on-demand scanning.

    Hi,
I'd say go for Ewido. And throw in SnoopFree as anti-keylogger if you must.
Those Germans know what they're doing - Mercedes, knockwurst, Ewido....
