Which Anti-Spyware are you using in realtime and why? Some examples are Spyware Doctor 3.2, Ewido 3.5, M.S.A.S., X-Cleaner, SpySweeper, CounterSpy, Trend Micro's Antispyware, Macfee's Antispyware, etc. Don't count H.I.P.S. programs like ProcessGuard, RegDefend, Antihook, Prevx Home\Pro\1, Online Armor, AntiHook, Safe'n'Sec, System Safety Monitor etc.

I run eTrust Pest Patrol ver.5 It runs very well on my comp. It runs much lighter than MSAS and SpywareDoctor. I have used all three and will stay with PP for now.

    Hi,
    Several configurations:
    Some pcs: SpywareGuard and MSAS
    Other pcs: MSAS
Another pc: MSAS + Pest Patrol
Reasons: Pest Patrol, because I love FPs. MSAS cause I once thought it was a good application. SpywareGuard out of old habit. Although neither has ever alerted me about anything meaningful. Homepage change, LSP addition when I installed a new network card, homepage change, running macros, but nothing more than that...
    Mrk

P.S. Also tried Ewido, SpySweeper and CounterSpy, but they didn't show much more than the above...

Does Pest Patrol have regular updates to its database? How does its database compare to the rest if you know?

Good for those who don't need one active. Though, do you still find some traces with the manual scans that you do with any spyware scanner?

I don't have any scanners, so I went on-line to TrendMicro and the scan found nothing.

I've always felt secure, due to being alert, and running in a type of virtual environment.

(In that respect, I'm looking forward to Erik Albert's report after he's used ShadowUser for awhile.)

I don't run any scans for the sake of detecting 'spyware', but I do check out DB (both beta and regular) releases to check for possible FPs and/or to provide support etc.. and No I haven't ever found anything on MY machines. ;) The machines of others are an entirely different matter. :ninja:

    I feel BOClean qualifies.

Have you gotten boclean to catch any spyware and if so, does it do a good job in removing it. I mean I heard boclean was an excellent trojan catcher, but don't know how good it is for adware\spyware.

Since the front end of a spyware infestation is often a trojan downloader, do the math.

As to the original question, I'm a "none" as well, unless you count BOClean. Scans I've done for a while are always clean...

    SpywareBlaster and MS Antipyware.
But since I'm always browsing with Opera and in 'shadowmode' (ShadowUser) I'm considering uninstalling them as being virtually redundant in my system.

Put me down in the none column also. Using proactive approach with Regdefend,ProcessGuard,Online Armor and Safe'n'sec. Even with the four it's less load on the system then active scanners, like Counterspy and Spysweeper. Both of which I own.

None. I rely entirely on 'passive' spyware protection, e.g., SpywareBlaster, HOSTS file, and hardened system-network configuration.

What antivirus are you using with your proactive approach? I mean there is a version of Safe'N'Sec that has some kind of antivirus program right? If so, Safe'N'Sec in conjunction with a real antivirus cause some sort of conflict?

Spy Sweeper in RT and Spyware Doctor OD. Seems like a good combo.
