Ok here is some clarity for people that want to use ZoneAlarm. Sense Escalader doesn't seem to know how to use excel to add the entries, Ill go ahead and do them manually. All these products I'm listing have the firewall and are up to date and Windows 7 Compatible as of this posting. All work in 64bit and 32bit Windows 7.

This lets you know the difference between all there products.

This lets you know what they are compatible with.

    ZoneAlarm Pro 2010

    32-bit / 64-bit , 2 GB RAM
    2 GHz or faster processor
    250MB of available hard-disk space
This uses a 64 bit Driver and 32 bit GUI.

    ZoneAlarm Security Suite 2010

    2 GHz or faster processor
    250MB of available hard-disk space
This uses a 64bit Driver and 32bit GUI.

    ZoneAlarm Extreme Security Suite.

    32-bit / 64-bit , 2 GB RAM
    2 GHz or faster processor
    250MB of available hard-disk space
This uses a 64bit Driver and 32bit GUI. (Not exactly sure how Forcefield works in this one at 64bit as I have never tried it.)

Just a quick note, I haven't abandoned the thread. Been busy setting up the new windows 7 notebook.

    An observation.

Like many vendors, this notebook came with a security package installed even though I didn't order it. It happens to be McAfee Security. FW,ASW/AV etc.

I'm using it as is for now. But I did do one little test in W7X64 with it.
I turned off the embedded windows 7 in/out FW thinking the McAfee FW wouldn't need that. Well McAfee gave me a rude message that the PC was no longer secure on the WWW because their FW service was disabled. Restoring the windows 7 FW made the message go away.

    Possible Theory

McAfee uses MS FW putting a fancy GUI front end. Do I know this?
No I don't but it is interesting isn't it?

It's possible, but hard to say. It could also just be McAfee being dumb and sensing that the Win FW is disabled and reporting it, even though it has it's own firewall.

I'd ditch the McAfee product, my experience on both personal and corporate machines is that it takes a large toll on performance. There are much better alternatives.

Hi: I`m running OP Pro FW 2009 on a 32 bit xp sp3 desktop AND a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit i7 processor.

All run fine. But as with all FW`s you have to know what you are doing and why to set them up to meet YOUR needs

See this OP link in windows 7 tesing
