When to use new backup method in HDM 14?

    I've paged through the 300+ page manual, and I am still unclear as to who should use the new backup method in HDM 14.

    Does it benefit all users in all applications? Are there some applications where it should not be used?

    Sorry, I'm not a tech, but I'm trying to catch up.

    From the manual:
    So, it seems that it´s not intended to replace PBF immediately.

    Thank you Robin. It was that statement that was completely confusing, amidst the listing of advantages of the new method. In infer we're Beta testers.

    Just to clarify the backup to VHD format is designed for multiple reasons, mainly being instant disaster recovery to virtual infrastructure. Currently it is a component which will allow you to access your information the same way, just in a VHD/PVHD/VMDK format.
