Do you know when we will get the first Beta?
August or September and the new version is due to come in October
Good news. I have Avast Home on my laptop now. Put it on about a week ago, and it is running very smoothly. With the latest detection rates it is difficult to know of a significantly better AV.
im definetly looking forward to Avast v5 finally. ill probably beta test it as well. hopefully its released in october and doesnt change again.
I assume a v5 free version will be available when a v5 paid version becomes available?
Really? I've heard somewhere that it was expected to be released at the end of July.
Btw, anybody here wants to see the new avast! 5 interface? I can post some...
Sure! Would love to see.
Oh yes pls.
The GUI looks very similar to that of avast! Anti-Rootkit beta, which was included in avast! 4.8
Thanks for the screens. Long time coming for these. Looks promising.
Thanks for the screenshots! It looks very interesting.
The guys at avast! said that skin support will be dropped from avast 5, but I think the default GUI is good enough
so for me to protect 3 computers it will cost me over a $100.00.
I dont think so.
GUI is much better than the current one. Where is trjam seeing prices?
wow the new GUI so far is a huge step up.
I am taking about the current product. For 3 comouters I have to buy 3 licences for Avast Pro. Vendors have got to get out of this mindset. Why would I pay over 100 bucks when I can get Microsoft for free.
lol umm. u can also get Avast Home for free...
true, but Pro is what I would want. But Kaspersky, Norton, Eset and Avira all are better deals. Avast would do themselves a favor to rethink their pricing structure.
Agreed. Their price module is kinda effusive.
The pricing of the avast consumer products will change with version 5.
BTW the screenshots above are a bit dated, plus illegally leaked.
Some official screenshots are now posted on our blog http://blog.avast.com though.
thanks, that is great news. Look forward to it.
my comment was meant more towards how u mentioned MSE being free when the feature set Avast Home is about the same if not more than MSE.
i heard ther was gunna be some sort of behavioral analysis in v5, maybe i missed it in the blog post but is this true or false?
I understand, thanks
wow the screenshots of the new GUI and info in the blog post have really got my excited about v5 cant wait
Correct. Technically, it's an automated expert system that monitors the behavior of the system (by means of "sensors") and is able to block a program (and alert the user) when it starts doing something malicious.
It is certainly not a panacea, but it does bring an extra layer of protection.
There'll probably be a blog post dedicated to this module soon.
