No snow at the Pacific Northwest - just rain and some dense fog when not raining. When shopping was done, I had indulged in a terrific chocolate cheesecake... a big piece too!! ;) yummy!!

Shed my webbed feet about 5 years ago for the desert area here.

Yeah, isn't cheesecake the ultimate? :-*

Make that crusty Italian bread, hunk of cheese, home made Italian salami and a tot or two of Grappa to wash it down. Urp!

If I remember correctly (and thats pretty doubtful) you get some decent home made wine and run it thru a distiller two or three times. What you have then is usually a 150+- proof drink w/a nutty flavor. If you live in the sno belt, w/one small tot of this stuff, you can go out and sno-blow the whole neighborhood in your skivies.

I must admit that, even tho I enjoy the taste, I was never able to completely empty the shot glass. Once that first sip hits your tummy it kinda separates the men from the MEN.

:D Knew a guy in Viet Nam who did something similar, only he used potato peals and corn cobs we appropriated from the chow hall. I think it was called White Lighting or Moon Shine. The wildman now will stick with his one a day brewski.

    Thanks

LOL ...Wildman, I was silently counting all those calories everytime you posted ... I enjoyed every one of your meals too. I know you only said the above injest ... But those things just aren't that good for you.

For anyone wanting to drop a few holiday pounds ... Eat Right (Higher Protein than Carbs, No Salt, No Sugar, and the dreaded No Fat) ... Yes, Weight can be totally controlled by diet alone. ;) But don't neglect your body and get physical ... a brisk 30min. walk will do ... Enjoy the sights, sounds, and the visual surroundings in your neighbourhood, you'll be pleasently surprised ... you don't know what your missing. As a side tip ... if anyone thinks they may not be motivated enough for those brisk walks ... Get a DOG ... he/she will lead you to that healthy lifestyle ... guarenteed ... if you don't fulfill those needs you'll get a ~wet~ surprise somewhere. Personal I go after slippers. :D

I demand THREE walks a day ... Rain or Sunshine ;)

:) The ole wildman is sight impaired, but has been using the tread mill at our condo complex facilities since the beginning of the year. I'm up to 30 minutes now, granted the speed is slow, but I'm getting there.

I don't think my two cats would appreciate a dog, plus I would fear for the dog, those two s@#ts are sneaky.

Oat Meal for breakfast. Slim fast and Power bar for lunch. Small portions for the evening meal. The jury is still out, but I think the verdict will be favorable. If it isn't the scream and swearing you will hear will be coming from you know whom. Plus my doctor will be a dead duck, all this is his suggestion.

    Thanks

:) I resurrected this old gem due to poplar demand. The wildman is off to the daughters for his birthday dinner. I am told we shall be having stakes an shrimp fixed on the bar-b-q. The wildman may even have a few beers (biers), more than one (hey it is my birthday). How about that? The cake most likely will be German chocolate, as that is the wildman's most favorite. The ice cream, Jamocha Almond Fudge, as that is the most favorite in this category.

Thanks and love to you all

Hey Wildman, how was your B-day dinner !??
How many (german ?) Biers and how many german chocolate cakes did you have the chance to indulge into ??
Oh boy.....I got sooo hungry and homesick when you mentioned that. Oooh, how I miss it........:'(

P.S. Tell me...did you ever, while you were in my home-country, have that
most delicious black forest cherry cake ? (Schwarzwaelder - Kirsch Torte)

:D The B-day dinner was delicious. The daughter treats daddy very well. The beer (bier) was the Holland variety (Dark an light), the wildman was allowed to have one of each. The cake wound up coming home with me. The ice cream wound up in the grand kids bellies (It was vanilla, so the wildman twasn't that upset).

Ah you bring back the memories. Most every Saturday (early morning) I would catch the bus into Kaiserslaurten. It would stop right in front of the bake store. I would enter and purchase a pastry and a cup of coffee. I think I tried about everything they had (YUM YUM).

    Thanks

Mmmmm...do you also remember the aah so wonderful coffee aroma that you could litterly smell from a block away from a coffee-shop ? And you could just, depending where you'd be, either stand at a lil table inside, enjoying that fresh brew ~ or sit outside in nice weather at a usually round bistro table, watching peacefully people walking by, etc, etc, etc.......................:D :p

I never seen or been in something like that here in the states.
Usually I see "cold" - fast food places...and everyone rushes to eat and imediately after finishing jump up to rush back home in their fast cars. :(

Don't get me wrong....I LOVE it here. But certain things...european style of life and enjoying their meals in peace, and with entrancing candle light in restaurants or elsewhere is something I can never get over ~ or even forget.
    And since I don't forget - I MISS. :doubt:

:) Ah yes. Some of the coffee places in down town San Diego come close to this type of atmosphere, but none have the pastry. I like you am not complaining, as I have come to appreciate what each location does have to offer, but one can long for a special thing not easily found elsewhere. I know, I am still trying to locate a decent Yager schnitzel.

    Thanks
