 You bet ya, although I had forgotten what it was called. Not to change the subject, but a glass of hot mulled wine would be good right about now, and the wildman is not to enthused about wine. Ah the memories and the food. Best fried Chicken I have ever had was in the wine country of Germany, wish I could remember the name of the place, but I wasn't the one doing the driving.

    Thanks

Detox, that is not nice. Having Gluehwein without Nat68. That's exactly what she needs right now. 1 degree outside and her feet are freezing !
But I can always make it MYSELF..when the lazyness disappears. :D

Back to food: The best chicken roasted in the turning grill (how you say - rottisseure o_O ) Anyways,..was in Wolfsburg. Unforgettable..and that was about 15 yrs. ago.

o_O Nat68: Does Mulshime ring any bells with you? Is this in German wine country? I think this was the place with the chicken, but just not certain. I remember it had quiet a few tour buses outside and the place was packed. The chicken was bier battered and deep fired in lard. I think it was approx. 40 to 50K from Kaiserslauten.

    Thanks

    Hey Ron,

Did you ever get up to "Smokey's" in Fargo, ND. Not sure if they are Texan but they serve killer ribs. Also had a 50+ oz T Bone for about $25. If you could finish it you got it free along w/a tee shirt to brag about it.

    Eat away, big ed

I've never been to Fargo. I would like to see it someday.

There is a steakhouse in Texas that offers much the same.

No sorry wildman, I hear x-mas bells ringing but not that it relates to the 'Mulshime' you asked about. I never heard of it - and though I traveled
to and thru germany all over, I've never made it down to area of Kaiserslauten.

The chicken was fired in LARD ?? Not these days anymore..got to watch my arteries ! But I bet it was just heavenly......:p

:D Ya bet ya. Amarillo (if you can eat all, it's free), if not however you must pay and it ain't cheap. Ribs: Porky's in San Antonio. Good Bar-B-Q: The fifty yard line Lubbock.

Man I'm glad it's almost dinner time.

    Thanks

;) Yup, after the first of the year the old wildman has to have Slim Fast and a power bar for his lunch, plus hit the tread mill at our condo complex club house. Until then however (let's eat).

    Thanks

If anyone likes ham, here is a good recipe

Ingredients One 8- to 10-pound fully cooked brine-cured (wet-cured) ham, on the bone or boneless
    1 cup pineapple juice
    1 cup red-currant jelly
    2 tablespoons light brown sugar
    2 tablespoons dry mustard
    1 tablespoon cider vinegar
    Whole cloves

    Prep Time: 10 minutes
Baking Time: 3 1/2 to 4 hours plus resting
    Makes 12 servings plus leftovers

    Directions
    1. Preheat the oven to 350F. Place the ham and pineapple juice in a roasting pan. Cover the pan tightly with foil. Bake for 22 minutes per pound or until a meat thermometer inserted in the center of the ham (not touching the bone) registers 135F to 140F.

    2. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, stir the jelly, sugar and mustard over medium heat until smooth. Remove from the heat and add the vinegar. Score a diamond pattern on the ham; insert cloves into diamonds. Spoon over or brush with one-third of glaze.

    3. Bake ham for 30 minutes more, brushing occasionally with glaze. Place the ham on a platter. Cover loosely with foil. Let sit for at least 30 minutes. Slice the ham. In the small saucepan, boil the ham cooking juices to reduce by one-third; serve with the ham.

 Oink, Oink. As a chef on the Food Network would say. "It's a pork fat thing". Sound good to me, this one I may try real hard to get the spouse to fix.

    Thanks

:D Well the Christmas dinner is over, and I am like the turkey I just had (STUFFED). The spouse did an excellent job, and dinner was scrumptious. The wildman has been informed we shall have a repeat tomorrow night, and there will be plenty of turkey left to make turkey soup also. The wildman is now much happier. I hope all had a scrumptious Holiday meal. Let us know what you had, and if it is quote out of the norm (Turkey and Ham) defiantly let us in on it. Happy Holidays and Marry Christmas.

    Thanks

:D The wildman could get into trouble with a line like this. Thank goodness we are talking about food here, we are talking about food aren't we?

Had the turkey again tonight, and am turkeyed out. Ham for the next holiday! Wait this ain't quiet right the turkey soup is still to come, o.k. ham after the turkey soup, and then ham and bean soup.

Na ain't quiet the same, I was going to suggest Swanson, but na. Perhaps Stouffer's or Marie Calenders.

    Thanks

:) Listening to the pitter patter of the rain, communicating with my friends here at wilders and a belly full of turkey soup washed down by a brew. Now I ask you what could be better than that?

    Thanks

:'( Long tall Texans can get away with more than one brewskie. Old grumpy pudgy curmudgeon wildman has to limit it to one a day.

 Turkey soup is yummy in the tummy, no matter what it is washed down by. I also like the green tea and honey (hot or iced).

    Thanks

:D Thanks Peaches, but am trying to talk the spouse into doing Ritaann's ham. She keeps insisting that she is kitchen challenged however, so I just may ask for a rain check on your dinner offer.

    Thanks
