Actually, you should remove 2 apps from the list. But that´s what you get from being too generous I guess, perhaps I should have limited everyone to a maximum of 10 apps. I´m starting to think that a lot of you didn´t even read the first post. What about your other apps?
Antivirus: ESET NOD32 Antivirus On-demand Scanner: HitmanPro Other Security Software: Sandboxie Web Browser: Chrome Media Player (Video and Audio): Gom Player, Foobar2000 Archiver: 7Zip Backup: Macrium System Monitor: Process Explorer PDF Viewer: SumatraPDF Disc Burner: ImgBurn Cleaner: CCleaner Video Converter: VideoToVideo
And people say my thread just about listing all your software is homework. Placeholder for possible edit after I get my computer back.
Antivirus: ESET NOD32 Antivirus Firewall: Comodo On-demand Scanner: HitmanPro Other Security Software: Sandboxie Web Browser: Chrome AdBlocker: Adguard Media Player (Video and Audio): Foobar2000 & Media Player Classic Archiver: Winrar Backup: Paragon PDF Viewer: Foxit Disc Burner: ImgBurn & Burnaware Cleaner: CCleaner Video Converter: ConvertXtodvd Torrent Client: Utorrent Download Manager: Eagleget

I can do whatever I want, it´s my thread. Just kidding buddy. Common guys, please post at least a top 10.
@ Everyone, thanks for posting. Interesting list. A couple of questions, if you´re not using Avira anymore, why is it still your favorite? And what´s DOSbox all about?
This is my newest top 25 list. All apps work on Win 8. New rules: It's now allowed to post up to 30 apps. For 32 bit OS--- Defensewall. It accomplishes everything that the best (e.g., Sandboxie, AppGuard, insert favorite HIPS here ____) 64 bit protection software does combined, and equally as well if arguably not more so, imho.
I kinda like looking in at newest posts on this thread instead of following a whole bunch. https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/what-is-your-security-setup-these-days.111264/
This is pretty much based on what is installed on the main laptop I use. I will need to check another laptop to see if I'm missing anything. Antivirus: Virus Chaser Free Antimalware: Malwarebytes Archiver: HaoZip (Chinese version with English language files from an older English version) Defrag: O&O Defrag Professional (only becuase I bought it cheaply as part of a bundle) Diagnostics: BlueScreenView/What's my computer doing? Virus Chaser Free site has been blocked by Adguard spyware protection. CNET says there is no update since 2004 and reviews aren't good. So can I ask you what made you decide to use it?
They, as well as other download sites need to update their listings, as that listing is for a really old version. The latest installer for the current version 8.0 was published on the 3rd of November - just over a month ago, and various components of Virus Chaser are reguarly updated via its live updates. The latest releases of version 8.0 have switched from Dr.Web's engine to Bitdefender's. I installed it to try it as I am testing different antiviruses reguarly. I decided to keep using it as it, as it has only very minimal system impact (much less than most antiviruses), and is using Bitdefender's scan engine. If you have a powerful system, then you'd probably be better off with a different free Bitdefender based soution such as Ad-Aware. However for users like me with slower systems where antivirus software often (if not usually) causes noticable slowdowns in system performance, Virus Chaser is ideal as it offers excellent protection (because it uses Bitdefender), and has minium system impact.
For anyone interested Virus Chaser thread here with lots of info: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...ivirus-using-bitdefenders-scan-engine.370646/
OK thanks for the clarification. Though I'm surprised that Bitdefender engine is lightweight on your system because I recall that namely Bitdefender was one of the best AV engine out there but also significantly burdensome a Win system. Obviously times have changed.
Virus Chaser and Roboscan (also using Bitdefender's scan engine, and has not had a program update for quite some time sadly), are both a lot lighter than Bitdefender itself.
Anyhow, what counts in the end is personal satisfaction with a product, so it's fine as long as this is your case. I have to admit that I returned to the newest Norton and I'm astonished how big leap Symantec have done. It's fast and extremely light, yes, you read it correctly. :-D The same impressions I carry as regards my Android devices.
