Thanks for the (on topic) responses everybody, LUSHER if you don´t want to post a top 3, then don´t. And of course it´s allowed to explain why you chose these tools, but I didn´t want people start to discuss each other´s top3. @ the ones who couldn´t make a top 3 (including you Ilya!), you have to think this way, what if you´re favorite tool didn´t exist? What would be your second/third choice?

@ innerpeace, Sandboxie isn´t a so called "classical HIPS", but it´s still considered to be a "sandbox HIPS", (they don´t alert you about anything most of the time), so that´s why I put it on the list. But I´m also not using it as a realtime security tool, I see it more as a virtualization tool.

@ Tokar, yes you can put Spyware Terminator on your list, if I´m correct it does have a HIPS, but not a very advanced one, that´s why I also have not included Arovax Shield and Win Patrol. But I believe the most widely used are all on the list.

Thanks Rasheed for the explanation. I always saw it as a virtualization sandbox, but I see how it could be a HIPS also.

Yeah, I just did too, when it flagged SuDown as malware seen 7 times in Italy recently, and then proceeded to lock up my PC so tight I had to pull the plug to reboot. Sorry, but that's ridiculous...

    2) Sandboxie
    3) Cyberhawk

    in no particular order..

Well to be fair he isn't trying to hide. But to be honest , I'm not sure if he adds anything more than what a fanboy of the product does (except many fanboys seem more technically competent than him).

I´m sorry Aigle, but this really isn´t allowed. You will have to choose one of them, come on, I know you can do it! :D

Ok, I am using GesWall ATM but I feel SandBoxie and DefenceWall equally attractive.

Added to the list: DriveSentry, Norton AntiBot and SafeSpace. Of course, there have been numerous new versions released of quite a few tools.

So has anyone changed their list? To everyone, feel free to post a top 3.

I've tried many of the hips on your list and most have caused more problems then they're worth.
Slow downs, conflicts with other programs, long boot up times and one even made my computer unbootable.
The best one, at least that works for me, is DefenseWall.
