    Missing your point here? This is just about the reported names and numbers, right? Most of XPACK/CFI/ATRAPS/ULPM and such detections are just many static detections hidden under one engine/name. So this boils down to the methodology of counting :cool:

    Sorry, total nonsense. The detections you mentioned are no static detections at all.

    Buy it from them. offer them a 5th of Scotch. never know they may give it to ya. :argh:

    But on a serious note web is coming out with V5 which maybe they use that "technology" of theirs better then they do now ?

    I think Dr Webs V5 will have a lot of buyers. Anticipation for one reason, others Stefan spoke of, but they have got to start laying it out there. I will be so bold to say, the reality is they could easily surpass Kaspersky with it. Kaspersky bogs itself down in fluff where Dr Web in some ways like Avira, goes for the guts, not the beauty. Time will tell.

    drweb has always been one to be careful about what goes in the database.
    compotition is only a good thing. if drweb beat kaspersky then kaspersky will improve and beat them etc etc.
    i wouldnt say kaspersky bogs its program down thou.

    Now the fan boys are going to roll in.. Thanks :p

    But yes. if it don't suffer from delays it could be a good thing for web tho if its delayed to much longer it could be a downfall also.

    Engine change which creates sudden massive growth of detected samples without any human intervention? And without 'automatic signature creation'? (Remember, that DrWeb is, say, 'behind' right now).

    bool CNewMagicalAVEngine::IsInfected( const char* szFile )
    {
    bool bIsInfected = true;
    return bIsInfected;
    }

    Anybody wanting to license this engine for their product? :p

    DrWeb guys really have to work on GUI. Apart from refreshed icons and graphics it still looks like a program from Win98 era. I'm not saying they need flashy interface with big flashy buttons. But some major refresh would really help a lot. Trust me when i say half of users decide based on interface visual design...

    Avira users can finally rest and enjoy their AV instead of constant bashing by fanboyz then.

    Avira is often critiqued in this forum precisely because it is #1 as are a lot of things that outscore the competition. Enjoy.

    you know the one we are kind of failing to recognize in this latest test is Avast. It is nice to see their improvement to.

    They are (right now) #1, because they (right now) have best detection of malware. That's the fact that's hard to deny.

    Yeah, they detect lots of 'grey' stuff, but most of such detections can be turned off or easily filtered - and I believe IBK is always glad to remove such stuff from his testset.

    Phew, me defending Avira :blink:

    Kind of like our Nemesis in a way I guess. o_O

    We are #1 on the top. and they are #1 on the bottom such striking similarity. :rolleyes:

    Come on guys, Kav Avira F-Secure they all are similar in terms of malware detection (in my own 'tests' at least :rolleyes: :D)

    GData outscores them all though, terrifically good. The only AVs i'd never trust are...

    Avira detected Dr. Web as malware. :argh:

    The spider must of left the web I guess.
