My first AV was NIS 2003, afterwards NIS 2004.
Changed to Avast Pro because NIS gave me trouble.
Got some problems with Avast & Sygate, so changed to BitDefender.

Updating problems with BD took me to yet another and that was KAV, after some recommendations from a fellow moderator.

Recently using KIS 7 on my laptop and of course testing ESS which on release will be put on my second machine which has NOD32.

Also tried F-Secure, Avira, Panda & some others of which I don't recall the name. :D

My first antivirus was Norton Antivirus after that Norton Internet Security, Panda Platinum Internet Security (very bad support, you are also forced to call a very expensive phone number) ,BitDefender Professional 8 Plus. I am still using BitDefender at the moment.

I guess, that it was AVG replaced by NOD32 as soon as I have found out, that AVG was a junk. :)

1st av was Norton wich i used several years. I was very happy with it and although it demanded it's fair share of system resources i was very happy with it untill i started getting alot of trojans wich norton deteced but couldn't remove.

    2nd av was NOD32

3d F-Secure, i really liked it's high detection, good cleaning, perfect tweaking but after a loyal time had to give it up because of gaming. It was too heavy.

4d Mcafee, luckyly ive ditched this carnival, purely mather of taste offcourse, notingh to do with detsction or other important stuff but i just can't take it serious when it looks like ad-central.

5d Avira, even though they used to have bugs, this program is top of the line now, these guys are gonna go far. Anyways plenty good tweaking, light on system, plenty updates, very high signature and heur detections, good gui, strong default settings, good website, good support forum.

6d Dr web, light on system, good protection, good removal of malware, cheap, good website.

7d VBA32, my personal favorite, even though there detectionrates isn't high in tests it kept me safer then the best. Light on system, Good Heuristics, perfect tweaking, cheap, great support forum.

Kaspersky unfortunetly never worked well here. Tried most of the others but couldn't keep my attention for 2 long.

    Years ago: hangs during scan
    Now: heavy on system, bloated.

Mind you i have only named the cons.

pros: outstanding forum support ( at least when i last visited wich is more then a year ago ). it seemed like with VBA32 now the user had a lil saying in where the product should go., adding fast definitions according to it's users here ( no experience with this as i never handed any samples), overall good protection ( high detection, pdm, great firewall).

Well everyone seemed to have Norton or Mcafee.

    1. Norton
    2. Panda or Bitdefender (can't remember which came first)
    3. Avast
    4. AVG
    5. free antivir (Now)

I kept switching between Avast, AVG and free av after i was done with shareware.

Although i could easily get kaspersky through warez i like to stick to free and be true!

It was a long time ago that I used my first AV. It was Norton (not symantec) and it came on three floppy discs since cd's weren't invented yet. There were only two av's at the time that were readily available, Norton and McAfee which made the choice pretty easy. I am giving my age away on this one.;)
