You may have noticed that the latest pre release build 1.1.0 contains a basic 1st start wizard, you can run it manually at any time from the maintenance menu: Currently we have a intro page, a page to enter the supporter certificate if one has one, one page for the shell integration (kind of redundant with the setup, so later the setup will be simplified a bit), I'll add a page to enable WFP, and the last page containing a checkbox to enable update checking. But what else should we have there? Cheers David
Why is the option on the first panel of the Setup Wizard greyed-out on here? Spoiler Since I'm already used to configuring my sandbox, this is yet another (and incomplete) path to the same destination. Besides, I keep my settings whenever uninstalling Plus. But maybe others would find this very useful.
It remembers the first choice permanently but yea in subsequent vizard invocations it shoudl just hide these radio buttons
The setup wizard may not have got enough attention probably because it got introduced in an experimental build (v1.1.0). A stable release, perhaps v1.1.1, may generate more feedback.
Is "WizardLevel" in sandboxie-plus.ini related to this choice? In particular, if WizardLevel=-1, what does value "-1" do? Thanks.
I would suggest an option to create an icon on the desktop to launch the default web browser under SB+
A check box for desktop-shortcut to launch default browser is one of three items on the "shell integration" page of the wizard. EDIT: See spoiler in this post by @bjm_ https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/sandboxie-plus-v1-1-0.445396/#post-3084816
-1 means the user canceled the wizard. So 0 means nothing the wizard will be shown on start, and 1 means wizard was completed. The idea is that may be I'll add a behavioure later that even if you finished the wizard, but I added new pages with new options it will pop up again showing only the new stuff than it will save not 1 but 2 then 3 and so on, and on cancel always the negative. Not sure yet for which behavioure, possibly for not poping up the wizard with new pages if the user did not finished the previouse time it was shown.
Is it a good idea to run the wizard even for long time users? I assume it won't mess up existing sandboxes.
David: Does the first run of sandboxie-plus use a default box with AutoDelete=y? If not, it might be a good idea to have a separate wizard page offering a few useful DefaultBox settings such as turning on autodelete with brief explanations of its advantages for beginners (as you have done and plan to do with WFP etc.). In due time, of course.
No the default is no auto delete i woudl also not think its a great idea to put a box specific thing into the first start wizard, this is a global thing. we may though later introduce a create box wizard instead of the currently just one page.
