I was pretty curious… if there are really some programs installed that can affect to slows down our pc… that is application speed response and internet speed. Coz in my own experience, too many programs that starts-up w windows like real-time monitor can really affects some of my applications to slow down and also my internet speed was affected when I used Secure-IT, Norton Firewall, Zone Alarm, and Outpost Pro firewalls.

I was even surprised, when someone says in other threads that ProcessGuard and Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta have caused his system and internet speed to slow down and he noticed a difference when he uninstalled these two programs. Well, the two programs are my favorites among several of my protection softwares (process protection/real-time agents monitor) and maybe I can’t live w/out them on my pc. :'(

Security apps worst offenders followed by programs that put stuff in start up like Adobe reader, why 63mb just for a reader?

honestly if a program slows down my computer significantly or is just bloated, its likely i may not use it. such examples include:

    KAV
    Panda TruPrevent
    Adobe Acrobat Reader

Outpost Firewall caused me lags or eg. when I right click with mouse on a file, it took about 5 sec till menu opened. Then I disabled some Windows Services and it works just fine now. :)

    Hi WS Fuser,

Wow! KAV is bloated or slows down the machine! Thanks I was considering purchase.

TruPrevent - really slowed me down, had to ask tech. support for an un-installer, to remove all Panda products. Now if I could just get them to stop emailing me. I've tried numerous times to unsubscribe

Acrobat Reader - I need it, so I live with it.

Here's one that will slow you down & is hard to get rid of Norton Internet Security.

Almost forgot FAH slows me up, but its for a good cause!!!

    Take Care

panda uninstaller? sounds useful, u still have it? also for acrobat reader, i use foxit pdf reader as an alternative. its looks very much alike and its so compact in size.
why would i want an AV whose sys requirement resemble those of a modern directx 9 game? but in all fairness, i understand that KAV's protection does requires the use of the CPU quite a bit, and the delay while it scans or unpacks files is noticable.

I just use PDF SpeedUp, works great.

Old Prevx slowed down my machine, but Prevx 1 is great.
    TDS-3
    Most realtime spyware scanners
    Norton
    WindowFX (older versions) and CursorXP
Samaurize & SysMetrix (at least the skins that I liked)
a lot of other system resource monitors & skinning programs (WindowBlinds has been great, though)
I'll try to update this list as I think of more (I know there's more, but I can't recall)

    Hi WS Fuser

Sorry the uninstaller vanishes after removing all traces of Panda. Call Panda's tech. support they will email to you.
