what programs are needed on startup?

    my computer is a little slow, so i would like to know what i dont have to run on startup so i can increase my speed. i currently have comodo firewall, defensewall and nod32. do i really need to have nod32 on startup?

    Well NOD32 is your antivirus; I would keep it running.

    Run msconfig and post a screenshot of the Startup tab. Then we can provide better advice on what to disable.

    Msconfig is a little weak. please have a look that this tool from M$.

    Id uncheck everything except:

    AdMuncher
    NOD32
    DefenseWall

    Also do you need both RocketDock and ObjectDock? Id keep just one.

    You could probably uncheck at least all that HP and Adobe stuff, also I would look in Task Manager and see if there's any process(es) using more than 0-1% of your cpu. If you do disable some of that stuff, it might be wise to do it one thing at a time, then reboot, and see if there are any ill effects, rather than just doing it all at once and not knowing what went wrong if there is a problem..
